New York – Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) just addressed the AIPAC crowd. Schumer’s known for his speaking skills, and he did not disappoint, urging backing for legislation that would immediately impose sanctions on Iran.

He noted that his name is a derivative of the Hebrew “shomer,” or guardian, and said he was pledged to guarding the security of the Jews and Israel.
He also guards a grudge. He remembered one of his earliest encounters with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, when Bibi was a U.N. ambassador in the 1980s, and Schumer was a congressman from New York.
The Schumers invited Bibi over for Shabbat dinner and put on quite a spread. Someone made the mistake of asking Bibi to explain price controls, which then beset Israel’s economy.
“Bibi being Bibi,” Schumer said, the ambassador took a 2-liter Pepsi bottle, unscrwed the cap, stuck his thumb in it and proceeded to shake.
“This is Israel’s economy,” Netanyahu said. “It looks stable…” and then he pulled out his thumb.
“It took me $1,800 to clean up the mess,” Schumer said — and he wanted to know if Bibi was ready to pay up.
Hey, at least he wasn’t asking interest.

In front of AIPAC he pledges to support Israel. I haven’t yet heard him criticize the Obami or Hillary for their outrageous public criticism of Israel. All he cares about are the votes and campaign dollars. Jews have too short a memory and have never held Chuck Schumer accountable for his doublespeak and lies. The Shomer is Hashem. Heaven help us if Schumer is our Shomer. The time for sanctions is long past and we all know any sanctions imposed will be weak and ineffectual. The U.S. needs to bomb Iran now, before it is too late. Obama, Clinton and our great Shomer Schumer will never take such an act.
I realize that many people on this board will point out that Bush never attacked Iran either, when he had the opportunity during his eight years in office. Two responses. One, Iran is much closer to its goal of making nuclear weapons now than when Bush was in office. Two, it was politically impossible for Bush to attack Iran largely because of the never ending villification of Bush, by the likes of Obama, Clinton and, Schumer.
Had these people supported action back then, instead of constantly attacking Bush, Bush would have had the freedom of action to bomb Iran.
What a full blown idiot! He needs to speak to his colleagues in the Senate about enacting immediate sanctions against Iran. What should this auditorium of lobbyists do? Applaud?
Chucky – use your speaking skills to do something useful, not like kowtowing to the Obama administration who are more like the enemies of Israel. Not like voting for self-destructive legislation like Obamacare. When will you represent your constituency? Or does providing entertainment at the microphone serve that purpose?
If you do not push Obama, Hillary, and Mitchell to side WITH Israel, and to get off our backs on all these dreamt up prerequisites to negotiate with the barbaric Palestinian thugs, we promise to “Remember in November”.

Schumer is an ehrlich yid who has done much for yiddeshkeit and EY. We have so few friends in Congress, we should honor and respect the few we have like him. K

So many brainless people in here it hurts my head sometimes. Schumer is a legend in that he is a skilled politician that knows how to get things done to keep his constituents happy and his seat in the Senate strong. There is no one so open and close to Israel and Jews than Schumer. Once he is gone, the broad support base of pro-Israel politicians will not be as vocal and open for Israel. Behind the scenes, Schumer does a lot when it comes to legislation and billions for Israel. U.S.A. is a country of 300 million people and Jews are insignificant % of population. Be happy that so few Jewish politicians have such a tremendous influence on American politics. Don’t bite the hand that feeds you. People expect Schumer to control everyone in Congress and White House for Israel, but he can’t do that. Don’t throw hissy fits against him.

Senator Schumer please explain to all of us how Obama healthcare helps New Yorkers. I don’t think anyone has even read this bill including and especially the House members who voted for it. The only part they probably did read is the “pork” that is in it for them.

I understood the Senator’s explanation about his name — how derived from the Hebrew “shomer” [guardian] and pronounced or heard as “schoymer” at Ellis Island and then written down as “Schumer” — what I did not understand was the further explanation or analogy that his ancestors had been “guardians of the Temple Wall in Galicia” — and I presume they came from Galicia as in Poland, not Galicia as in the northwest corner of Spain (where Santiago de Compostella is located). Can somebody help me with that?
If he’s a shomer then he’s a shomer sachar, since we pay his salary. So he’s chayav for geneiva, aveida, and pshia. So if part of eretz yisroel is stolen from us, or our money is taken from us by obama, or our health care, etc, he’s responsible.
