Washington – White House: ‘Birther’ Movement A ‘Crazy’ Internet Conspiracy

Washington – The Obama administration has labeled them as “crazy,” but “birthers” are busy keeping their eyes on Arizona.

A bill that would require presidential candidates to produce a birth certificate in order to get on the state’s ballot passed the state’s House in a slim 31-29 vote.

Despite this, the White House isn’t likely to grow concerned over the “birther” conspiracy.

“The President has dealt with the crazy Internet rumors for years,” White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs said on Wednesday. “I’m almost positive that no argument is somehow going to dissuade [them].”

Four Republicans joined with all House Democrats in Arizona to vote against the “birther bill.” It is now slated to go to the state Senate.

Attempts to adopt similar legislation has been tried in several other states. All have failed.

Even if it does pass, it would likely face legal battles almost immediately, as it would reportedly cause a conflict between state and federal election laws.

The minor win in Arizona comes as Hawaii looks to pass legislation of its own to ignore repeated requests for President Obama’s birth certificate.

According to a recent New York Times/CBS News poll, 58 percent of Americans said the President was born in the United States, with 20 percent believing he was born in another country (23 percent said they did not know).

“Birther” conspiracy believers claim Obama was not born in Hawaii, as the certification of live birth (equal to a birth certificate in Hawaii) posted online in 2008 states (and confirmed by state officials, newspaper notices, and even Fox News’ Bill O’Reilly).

“This should have been done and gone a long time ago,” said John Avlon, author of “Wingnuts: How the Lunatic Fringe is Hijacking America,” on “Anderson Cooper 360” on Wednesday.

“It’s managed to become a very persistent conspiracy theory because … it’s feeding off of a lot of people’s worst instincts and fears that have to do with whether or not President Obama is truly American.”

Obama has studied Saul Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals and follows the rule that you make fun of and ridicule people that challenge you, no matter how true what they say might be. The whole issue would be put to rest if he would just produce a certified birth certificate. We all have one or can get one from the records department of the city where we were born. What is the big deal? The big deal is that he cannot produce this document. Why doesn’t he release his college record ? Could he be that he was a foreign student? Why did he give up his license to practice law? Was it that he lied on the application form when asked if he had gone by any other names that the one given to practice law? These are reasonable questions that require straight answers , not the thousands of dollars spent by Obama not to have to answer these questions and produce the asked for documents. It really seems simple to me. When I apply for a job, or a passport, I produce the necessary documents. Is it too much to ask the president of the United States to prove his country of birth, to eliminate any question, to preserve the rule of law of the Constitution of the United States? What is he hiding?

I find these comments more than distasteful – particularly when they emanate from people who may just not be “natural-born” American citizens themselves.

Aside from that, who are we – am bagolus – to question the credentials of a legally elected national leader?

So why won’t he just permit Hawaii to release the actual birth certificate?? It’s very strange.

Just like it’s strange that all of his school records have gone missing, (elementary, high school, Occidental college, Columbia U, and Harvard U), including transcripts, financial aid info, and Harvard senior thesis / other research papers, as well as IL State senate records that he oddly disposed of.

In Soviet Russia they used to stifle our opposition by labeling us as crazy. A lack of appreciation for communism was considered a mental retardation. If Obama thought we were mentally insane, why doesn’t he just prove his wondrous abilities by producing the Birth Certificate and cure millions of people from their ‘craziness’ with just one little act?

Was Michelle Obama also suffering a moment of craziness when she said that Obama’s home country was kenya? You could see the video of her saying that. Just search online ‘michelle obama home country kenya remark’.

This is obviously NOT CRAZY if the Wjite House has the time to comment on something like this. They don’t want it to grow into a “real issue”.
Let’s go AMERICA – let’s take it back and give it to a real American.

One thing that we all agree on is this. Obama has a dual loyalty problem. On the one hand he is loyal to the Muslim side of himself and on the other he is (supposedly) loyal to the American side of himself. Only problem is that his one hand Muslim is a lot stronger than his other hand American.

this movement is very important to the united states, i think it is 100% fair that they do this. Why wouldnt obama just prove he is natrual born, we need to know, not showing the birth cirtificate defiles the constitution

The AP is a birther movement. In 2004, an AP headline read “Kenyan-born US Senate hopeful, Barrack Obama, appeared set to take over the Illinois Senate seat after his main rival, Jack Ryan, dropped out of the race on Friday night amid a furor over lurid sex club allegations.” By the way, I don’t recall reading letters to the editors correcting it to American born. A bit suspicious that it cruised through the news media in 2004.

Or how about Kenya’s oldest newspaper, the Sunday Standard, was already a birther as early as June 27, 2004. They ran the following headline: ‘Kenyan-born Obama all set for US Senate’.

do you beleive in the conspiracy that bush and cheney were behind 9/11? its abnsurd right? to think they had foreknowledge? and yet ye same crazy sourceou beleive the obama birth conspiracy? really? did you know that both were strarted by the same person? yup thats right. phillip j. berg, conspiracy theory nut extraordinairre filed a lawsuit against bush and cheney for their “involvement” in 9/11. he also sued obma for his place of birth. either be consistent and beleive one if you beleive the other, or been a human with a brain and beleive neither since they both come from the same crazy source.

I never realized that there were so many gullible and ignorant people in our community.

    1. Obama has NO SAY in who gets to see his original long-form birth certificate. The state of HI decides that based on a petition showing a “material interest”. It is that simple.
    2. McCain’s campaign attorneys were given access (I guess they met the “material interest” standard) and verified that it was kosher.
    3. The REPUBLICAN Governor and the vital records dept. verified that it was kosher.
    4. The Federal Government has no jurisdiction over birth certificates. That was left to the states (REAL Conservatives understand State Rights). The law as written in the state of HI was followed by the Governor.
    5. There is *NO* Federal law which requires anyone to meet any particular standard of proof beyond providing whatever document their state of birth provides. That’s it. Obama is under no obligation to provide anything else.

While there is surly some room for wacky conspiracy theories, there is not one, single SHRED of evidence to show he was not born here, and all the evidence we DO have shows that he was.

I say “Prove it, or shut up already!” Its embarrassing to the rest of us!
