“I am a little bit afraid,” she said, standing beneath a badly drawn Nazi symbol that was painted in the bedroom where her 93-year-old mother sleeps.
“It tears my heart out. I feel like I am being taken to a concentration camp.”
Kaiman is the Orthodox Jewish owner of Kaiman Country on Mount Hope Road near Swan Lake. Five teenagers have been accused of rampaging through the colony on Sunday, overturning items, breaking things and spray painting phallic symbols, gang graffiti, the swastika, and alsothe name “Hitler.”
They marked up the book shelf in the shul that holds her prayer books.

Of course, no one should minimize the Holocaust and the Post Traumatic Stress syndrome that it brought on. But, on the other hand, to exaggerate the effects of it and to blow every act of vandalism –Yes. Anti-Semitic vandalism– out of proportion is just as harmful –or even more so– than trivializing it. It is like the boy who cried wolf…!
They have bigger fish to fry up there like condemn Jewish camps getting geared up for ticket giving season.
you would have to stink from death and witness untold tragedy to even think you feel like your in a camp… people need to stop using that term lightly
It’s bad, but this sort of overblown exaggeration doesn’t help us. Being stripped, beaten, frozen, worked twenty hours a day, forced to bury mass graves full of other Jews, tortured and shot in the back of the head “feels like being in a concentration camp”. Finding a backwards sun wheel painted on a building is unpleasant and frightening or infuriating. It isn’t even in the same galaxy as being in a death camp.
