Washington – The moment Jean Afterman uttered her infamous one-liner at President Obama, she realized she may have made a mistake.

Afterman, the Yankees’ assistant GM, didn’t feel bad about taking a shot at the President for being a White Sox fan, but she said she felt “incredible remorse” for barking out what was perceived as a shot at Obama as he went to hold the World Series trophy.
“One of his enormous talents is to make everybody feel comfortable and make you feel like you can engage in what I like to think of as witty repartee with the leader of the free world,” Afterman said. “Everybody has their favorite team. It was just like two people sitting around watching a ballgame and cheering their teams on.”
As Obama prepared to hold the trophy, Afterman said, “Do You want hold it? You might not get another chance.” The crowd assembled in the East Room laughed, prompting the grinning President to reply, “And you wonder why the other teams don’t root for you.”
“The minute I said that I thought, ‘Man, that sounds Republican,’ ” Afterman said. “I wanted to retract it immediately. I am a huge supporter of the President. I supported him since he announced his candidacy.”
Afterman stressed that last part several times Tuesday, noting that she is one of the few Democrats in the Yankees’ front office.
“Really, my biggest concern was that it would be misinterpreted as a political statement, because I’m a supporter of his,” Afterman said. “I’ll be out there stumping for him, and voting for him and campaigning for him on his next campaign.”
“I’m hoping that Vladimir Putin’s going to be around; I have a few words there,” Afterman joked. “I understand I’m going to be sent on diplomatic missions around the world. North Korea’s next; the man (Kim Jong Il) is a big baseball fan.”

Well if that’s the case, when they win the series in 2012 & come to the White House during the 2013 season – when there will IYH be a REPUBLICAN in office – SHE SHOULD STAY HOME!!!!
