New York – Prominent Jewish American lawyer Alan Dershowitz on Tuesday accused Jewish left-wing officials and organizations worldwide of slandering Israel’s name and causing greater damage than that created by Islamic and pro-Palestinian movements.

Dershowitz, who is known to be an avid supporter of the State Israel, spoke during a Tel Aviv University symposium titled “Delegitimization of Israel as a Strategic Threat”.
Addressing Israel’s acceptance into the OECD organization, he explained that the roundabout ways the Jewish state had to pass before being allowed to join were another layer in the incitement campaign.
According to Dershowitz, the countries which were against accepting the Jewish state – like Spain and Ireland – have failed economies and keep on criticizing Israel, which he said is responsible for a slew of technological developments and inventions. Instead of winning praise, he said, Israel is subject to delegitimization attempts.
One of the strongest visual objects in the media is a mother holding a dead baby in her hand, which is similar to the picture of Mary holding baby Jesus, he explained.
The prominent lawyer, known for his harsh criticism against Judge Richard Goldstone, who authored the United Nations report on Operation Cast Lead, also said that Hamas and Hezbollah know that Israel will respond to the firing missiles at Israeli children making their way to school. This is why they place the rocket launchers in the heart of civilian populations, he said, in a bid to cause the death of as many babies as possible while al-Jazeera’s cameras are prepared to bring the images to the entire world. This was not noted by Goldstone in his report, Dershowitz said.
‘Israel portrayed as Nazi occupier’
Dershowitz accused anarchist Jewish linguist Noam Chomsky of creating a hostile atmosphere among many groups in the United States and in its academic campuses.
They are creating a narrative which always presents Israel as a Nazi occupier, he said, while shutting their eyes to facts contradicting those same claims, like the ties between Jerusalem’s Grand Mufti Haj Muhammed Amin al-Husseini and Nazi leader Adolf Hitler during World War II.
According to the prominent lawyer, these acts are “legal terror” aimed at slandering Israel’s name.
He went on to explain that Israel’s greatest enemies were not radical Muslims, who he said only strengthened its claims, but rather Jews and Israelis worldwide using their descent in order to boost their unrestrainable attacks against Israel.
According to Dershowitz, American politician Norman Finkelstein identifies himself as a Jews only when he attacks Israel, as does former Israeli musician Gilad Atzmon, who lives in Britain and declares that the Israeli army’s methods are worse than the Gestapo’s.
Dershowitz said that Israel must launch a real war against incitement, in any place possible – in the UN, in the International Court of Justice and in every other place. Israel may lose the vote, he said, but will not miss the opportunity to voice its claims.
He explained that due to the hostile environment towards Israel in the American academia, he is often praised by staff members for speaking in favor of the country. They whisper it to me, he said, and then explain that despite their support for Israel they feel uncomfortable saying it in public.
And which political wing is Dershowitz?
Bravo to ALAN. Returning to your yiddishe roots, there still may be hope for this world.
Call them like you see them
Mr. Dershowitz, welcome back to the fold. It is great to see a reformed liberal who has seen the error of his ways. I could not agree with you more in that it is the liberal Jews who are aiding and abetting the enemies of Israel (which includes the present administration in Washington. When will these Upper East and West Side Jewish Yuppies realize that for both America’s and Israel’s sake it is vital to root out this cancer known as Hamas or Hezbollah or Al Queda. We can start by getting rid of Hussein Obama and Hillary (the Liar) Clinton.
This is Kiddush Hashem, telling the truth, unabashedly, and standing up to the defamers,of Israel, even if they come Mizera Yisroel.
They are on the left, and on the right. Their common theme is to hate the Medinah.
Unlike America, which had its best days years ago, and the liberal anti American idiots in the media and elsewhere just help its fall, Israel is currently in its best years! Exonomically, militarily etc. Even terror attacks are way down. The shekel was the only currency in all of the middle east and Europe that wasn’t affected by the Greek crisis. Warren buffet, google, ibm, microsoft are all investing in israel. The only way anti-semite can still win is with a deligitmazation campaign, in which the liberal self hating jews r the initiators! Unlike the american hating libs that help Americas fall by just putting up as many blogs as they can against americas smartest moves in history (nagasaki and hiroshima). israels self hating jews that criticize israel (goldstone-chomsky etc)are initiating israels fall. If they would shut up israel would shine. Israel is seeing its best years.
Thumbs up to alan dershowitz for again saying it as it is!
For once I strongly agree with Alan Dershowitz. G’D bless him for speaking the truth
What he says is true and everyday more and more find ways of slandering israel. It hurts when ita a suppose friend (america) it hurts more when its a brother
Well said Mr Dershowitz
Smart, insightful & fearless.
Wish there would be another few like him!
Alan Dershowitz is a liberal, a man of the left. He always has been and always will be. He is also a staunch defender of Israel, and does so from his left-wing viewpoint. It makes him a very lonely man. As much as I deplore his opinions on Judaism (born frum, he went off the derech, and thinks that yiddishkeit will be saved by his way of doing things), I applaud his principled stands for Israel, and for where he makes them. Oh yes, I am a liberal also.
I do believe that M.E. analyst is correct…as a die hard N.Y.er who is currently employed in a professional field in flux I do not see myself living here much longer. Further, my 20 y.o. son is learning in Israel and I am encouraging him to explore career options in Israel over the summer.
Way to go Alan!! Your home town Boro Park, Brooklyn salutes you!!
Dershowitz took the words right out of my mouth. I’ve been saying for a long time that the Jewish radical left , those who call Israel an apartheid state , call for boycotts of Israeli products , etc . are our worst enemies. The anti -Semites of the world read this stuff and are emboldened. We have always found a way with Hashem’s help to deal with the Jew haters of this world, but when Jews themselves are responsible for so much anti-Israeli ( read anti-Semitic) drivel then this is very traumatic. As the Novi wrote…’ Meharsaich u’machreveich memeich yeitzeiu.” They are causing us much damage.
I will have more kavanah when I say the V’lamalshinim … in the Shemonei Esreh.
Said it good Allen, J street is also one of them
yes this is an old story and an old saying that a non frum Jew can be worse then a goy whenever there was elections or in politics. WHAT DO WE DO WITH THESE KIND OF PEOPLE?? Aren’t they traitors? why are they not treataed/dealt with accordingly?
Alan Dershowitz will go down in history as one of the staunchest supporters of Israel, an Ohev Yisroel, respectful of his roots and traditions despite his personal (to date anyway) failings in observance. But that does not detract from this giant of a man, courageus, superb public speaker, superb writer, and a true believer in the Torah and Hashem even if it doesnt quite jibe with your interpretations. Kudos to him and I wish him long life and continued courage. He should be elected Pres of Israel one day or rep to the UN. Another Abba Eban.
Dershowitz is an ehrlich yid who is one of the most passionate supporters of EY. We should take pride that there are yidden who combine such great legal and academic scholarship with a high level of ahavas yisroe. While he may not be 100 percent shomer torah umitzvot, he makes up for it many times over with his contributions to the security of EY.
amen, brother.
What a hypocrite..the same guy who debated R.Meir Kahane HYD.. This guy was against Torah’s view of how Am yisroel, Toras Yisroel, and Eretz Yisroel go together. You can look up the debates. Where is his PUBLIC retractions?!
#24 .What does it mean that “it doesn’t quiet jibe with your interpertations? Does he keep shabbos, eat only kosher, put on tefillin etc. Is there an interpertation on that?I am not putting the man down, just your statement. It is one thing to have ahavas yisroel, yet another to be a believing jew. A good jew is one that honor s HKBH by following in the path he laid out for us.
#26. you can’t make up for anything. You can be a great supporter of Israel, love your fellow jews, but you are not making up for anything! If we are talking about being an observant jew, we don’t switch off one for another. Yes, he is a vociferous speaker on the issues concerning Israel, the Middle East and so forth. To his credit, but it would be nice to see a man like A. D come around in his observance. We need smart minds like him in our circle. Who knows, Allen, one day you just might follow the path of your grandparents, although I have no idea who they were and if they would make us proud…but I suppose they would have.
1st of all he comes from a frum family, 2nd of all ‘tinik shenishba’ is not one who dealt with and knew of yidden shomrei torah umitzvos. 3rd of all someone, as intelligent as dershowitz (yiddishe kop) knows all about torah umitzvos and all talmud and choose to ignore it will not be able to tell bes din shel malleh ‘oh ,i’m sorry,i didnt know…’ and that goes to all who ignore the torah. and if you all dont believe in this ‘hogwash’ of scar veones and the hereafter, what are you doing on a ehrliche torah site?..there is plenty of atheist sites
Askupeh your option is off a little
