Manhattan, NY – An Upper East Side man is having trouble getting a good night’s sleep and he blames it on some noise coming from a nearby bus depot.

Pat Minietta says he is often jolted awake by a sound that he describes as “a bird or chicken being strangled.”

A Metropolitan Transportation Authority supervisor says the sound is actually an alarm which is used to scare away pigeons. He says without it the bus depot at 100th Street and Lexington Avenue would be covered in bird droppings.

Minietta is offering the MTA a solution — get a supersonic alarm that human beings can’t hear.

The sound is just another price we have to pay for living in such a beautiful city which wouldn’t be so beautiful if they didn’t have this alarm. We tried using “owls” on our shul in Brooklyn but the pigeons figured it out quickly and now sit on the owls and poop.

Why doesn’t the MTA put pigeon alarms in the Brooklyn elevated subway stations that are coated in pigeon feces?

I guess the MTA doesn’t care about it’s Brooklyn riders, only it’s Manhattan operations.

Where is PETA?? The cruel and nasty MTA don’t let the pigeons poop in peace!

On Ocean Pkwy, under the overpass for the Belt Parkway, they installed pigeon protectors years ago. People walking to work at Coney Island Hospital were attacked by pigeons. They installed a silent device that keeps the birds away. Why not install the same system?

Gotta potty train those birds! They’ll probably get used to the alarm, just like they got used to the fake owls.

Why not import bird eating spiders instead? They can easily eat one or two pigeons a week…
