    Ads carrying those phrases are appearing on at least 30 New York City buses, paid for by a conservative activist and the organizations she leads.

    The activist, Pamela Geller, says the ads are aimed at Muslims who are already contemplating leaving the faith.

    The Metropolitan Transportation Authority says the ads don’t violate any of its guidelines. They went up May 14 and are scheduled to come down in a couple of weeks.

    Faiza Ali of the New York chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations says they are a smokescreen for an anti-Muslim agenda.

    “… Faiza Ali of the New York chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations says they are a smokescreen for an anti-Muslim agenda. …”

    CAIR is a “smokescreen” for terrorism (i.e. Hamas).

    Sadly, the message will probably prove correct when Islamic radicals threaten violence due to the ad.

    IMHO these ads are offensive. The MTA should be more sensitive to its riders. Contrary to a newspaper, where a person has the choce not tp buy the paper with the offensive ads. The MTA is a public neccesary vehicle and these offensive ads in your face are the equivalent to stuffing food down someone’s throat.

    Today its anti Muslim and tomorow these ads will be targeting frum kids. i.e. ready to quit Yiddishkeit? Parents on your head?…

    If you disagree with me I can understand you because the fact is that we as a society have been a victim of Muslim Radicals. However my point is squarely pointed at the nature of the location and the reprecussions of not standing up against these ads.

    Thanks for reading and sorry for my typo’s.

    Obviously the ads are anti Men, they advocate leaving your man yet there is no outcry from any male group.
    The only outcry is from the poor, ready to be dumped junior terrorists.

    Kudos and respect to #8 . Exactly. And I&#8 217;ll go further and say that it would be offensive in a newspaper as well. It&#8 217;s just not a good precedent to set: &#8 220;Hey, kids, are you sick of your religious background? Well come to become-secular-now.com&#8 221; as being accepted advertising&#8 230;

    If the same ads were targeted at Jews everyone here would be furious.

    To 8, 14, 15, 16. Sorry – you’re wrong on this one. Someone contemplating leaving Islam is often in real mortal danger. They really do need assistance. There is no comparison at all.

    for more background to the story – and to understand it within context – check out Pamela Geller’s website atlas shrugs – it has an unbelievable amount of information that every Jew should know.. for example, how the Nazi’s were inspired by the Mufti (muslim/arabs), and not that muslims were just “collaborators”.

    So this is about tactics, not principles? It’s about building up credibility with the public, to be used when we have an issue? In that case people can differ on tactics. I think standing up for the Moslems would do the exact opposite of what you claim. Rather than building our public credibility it would blow it; by standing up for them we become associated with them in the public mind, and that can’t do us any good. Do we want normal Americans to associate Jews with yet another leftist cause supporting America’s enemies?

    Would be better as a secular or mutli-denominational appeal -and not targeting Islam per-se.
