State Police figures show tickets for all motor-vehicle violations increased 61 percent on the parkway last month, compared to April 2009. It was up 45 percent on the turnpike for the same period.

Troopers issued 396 tickets to truckers in March compared to 95 written in March 2009.

The increase comes in the wake of comments made by Transportation Commissioner Jim Simpson at two turnpike authority meetings. Simpson questioned whether troopers were aggressive targeting speeding trucks.

Simpson says he didn’t request stepped up enforcement, but he’s happy with the results.

We drive on the parkway all the time close to the speed limit and there are cars and trucks coming up behind us honking and nearly running us off the road. Its good that they are finally cracking down on these speeders and agressive drivers. Kol hakovod to the police for their long overdue enforcement effort.

Reply to # 1. I don’t know which parkway you’re driving on but the nj gsp does not allow trucks!

Regular speed on GSP is 85 MPH. Maybe they should make it the official speed limit.

there shouldnt be speed limits. It is not one size fits all. A 1987 minivan doing 65 mph is not safe. On the other hand, my 2010 bmw m5 doing 140mph is pretty safe.

    Its all relative

DO AWAY WITH THE SPEED LIMITS!

This is why I avoid NJ like a bad disease. Instead of paying for their lavish expenditures fairly with taxes they get their money with arbitrarily enforced highway taxes(traffic tickets).
