Jerusalem – Members of the United Torah Judaism faction met with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Wednesday afternoon is a bid to find a solution for the Emmanuel crisis, after ultra-Orthodox parents who refused to obey a High Court ruling against discrimination were sent to jail.

Netanyahu told the faction members that “the court’s decisions must be honored” “One of the foundations of national unity” he said, “is respect for decisions by the courts. Respect for the high court’s decisions, and for each other, is essential. “and called on them to “practice restraint”.
Knesset Member Meir Porush told Ynet before the meeting, “We will demand that the prime minister take command. Something is happening in this country and he must settle it.”
Asked whether his party would leave the coalition, Porush responded, “You write that every time anyway and then remove it.”
The High Court of Justice ruled Tuesday that 13 of the 22 mothers from Emmanuel who refused to obey a court ruling in the Beit Yaakov school discrimination affair would not have to report to jail. The other women will be imprisoned after their husbands are released.
Btw,netenahu was unable to answer utj’s evidence that there was no discrimination.
How does one respect an institution that tramples on their civil liberties time and time again – all out of personal bias and hatred?
Respect has to be earned – even thereafter it has to be maintained.

Well reb meir, Bibi DID settle it…he said that just as in any democratic society, there must be respect for the rule of law and the court’s decision MUST be honored. Why don’t you file a human rights complaint at the International Court of Justice. They are great friends of EY and you can line up behind the Palestinians who accuse the same government of war crimes in Gaza. Perhaps they can consolidate the dockets and hear your complaints together.
The solution is to completly cut-off any ties with the Israeli Gov don’t take money from them for yeshivas don’t vote, as the Satmar Rav z”l said, then they wont be able to tell us how to educate our kids.

respect gets respect. if the state of israel would respect basic “democratic” rights of the frum, perhaps they would regain respect in the worldwide arena. But if you look closely, you will see that everytime they trample the rights of the religious, the world tramples on their image. I’m sorry but i think i might be an ignorant American / Israeli Ashkenazi jew to whats going on but i will add my opinion anyhow. i live in Brooklyn, my kids go to frum heimish orthodox bais yaakov girl school. My daughter has Sephardi, bucharian, russian, syrian & ashkenazim in her class. Some come from more frum homes & some even less. Some girls their mothers wear the wigs & all trimmings & some with a baseball cap or tichels only. If my daughter comes home with some idea that is not according to our hashkafa i tell her so. “its o.k. for so & so to do this & that, but we don’t hold this way” I find that my kids are more understanding & less judgmental to others who are not exactly like us. i think that by being exposed to all kinds of frum yidden regardless of their lever of frumkeit or personal hashkafa has enhanced her education not lessened it. she has learned tolerance and acceptance of others & she actually picked up some very nice midos & hashkafa from the different variety of girls. If Klal Yisrael focused more on what unites us to what divides us then we would not have all this sinat chinam going around.
First let the courts respect themselves, they themselves should follow a rule of law and not wing it as they go along.
A supreme court must be a representative of who they represent.

when the people in the land of israel lose their identity by trying to become one of the nations then they arent fullfilling their god given duties.

If the Court would rule that all arabs must immediarely integrate into Jewish schools and stop teaching arabic subjects in State Funded Arab schools ,would the leftists accept this as a legitimate Court ruling ? If the Court would rule that all Jewish Israelis must go to a religioud State school ,would the Seculars accept this ruling ? Of course not

The parents were jailed for not sending their kids to school. After the court ruled it must be integrated they said ok. Then they sent their kids to a different school, not wanting to send their child to an integrated institution. The adhered to the court order to integrate.
The fact that the judges jailed the parents for keeping their kids home is of concern. Israel does not have a constitution on which to base their decisions on. There is nothing in the law requiring a parent to send a child anywhere. This is not about receiving state money.
When you plow past all the racism propaganda, there are serious issues here, and its obvious the court did this in spite of the religious jews. G-D will bear witness upon them. If they were to only open their eyes they would see that.

Netanyahu has taken a bold stance against the many concessions being forced upon him from Barack Obama as well as the Palestinians and the constant and continuous scrutiny and criticism of the world at each juncture of self-defense. If you want to know where this fortitude comes from you need to look no further than Netanyahus speech at the 92nd St Y words which were echoed by him in an address to the UN Council which were given to him by the late Lubavitcher Rebbe in a meeting they had many years earlier. Netanyahu himselkf said “As long as I live I will never forget the words that the Rebbe said to me on that evening. You are entering a house of darkness and lies, realize that one solitary candle can illuminate an entirely dark room”. Netanyahu made this statement with a lot of courage and confidence. But in light of his comments regarding Immanuel it seems that he does not realize that the Rebbe was talking about darkness and lies which pervades the Israeli secular mentality and not strictly the nations of the world. The Rebbe in this case would completely back the sentiments of the Charedi public. Someone should remind Mr Netanyahu of those words and remind him how they apply.
The State of Israel has had an identity crises since it’s founding. It likes to be known as the “Jewish State”, yet it doesn’t want to be constrained by Jewish law.
What it really wants to be is a something else (admittedly, something “Jewish”), but it can’t even decide quite what that should be, as evidenced by it’s failure to even adopt a formal constitution (to argue that the Torah is that constitution is to employ circular reasoning; it merely affirms the premise of my first statement.)
That isn’t to say that a constitution settles fundamental conflicts. It does, however, give the citizenry a framework to craft somewhat consistent policies.
The whole court & prosecution system is completely unbalanced and a sham!! against Jews and for certain against Charaidim,
1- protecting leftists who steal from the government coffers [the people] like double billing, and having financial interests in gov. sponsored projects,
2- taking years to indite allowing them to run in elections and run the country, when they should be in prison!!
3- taking land rights from from Jews & giving to arabs
4- ordering destruction of even legal Jewish homes & Shuls while
allowing illegal arab building!
5- Discriminating against S’Fardim in many ways while oppressing & inditing Choraydim for discriminating when they are not!!
They can never be respected without changing completely!!!

In Uganda you could say such a statement! In Eretz Yisroel you should say “respect for the holy torah is essential for the Jewish nation”.
The fact is that even in the great beacon of democracy, the USA, you can have a private school based on race. “Brown v. Board of Education” doesn’t extend to private schools, they understood that it’s important to have an option to educate based on a particular heritage. In matter of fact in Virginia, prince Edward County, closed down there public school system and gave out grants to the private schools in order to “prevent” integration forced unto them as a result of Brown v. Board of Education.
Anyone, that is anyone, who really looks objectively will understand that what has happened was the state meddling with the rights of private people and extending their hand into internal religious customs and that is a red line that needs to be fortified.
Isreal and its Judicial System deserves NO respect as long as the Israeli Government, Judicial System and its Citizens disrespect the Tora, which is superior.
once the individual or the klal takes money from the Israeli Government, they can expect that the government will exert its authority sooner or later.

The Slomin Kehilla in Emmanu-el need to address the fundamental issues of funding; the unfortunate truth is that Kollel parents, in the vast majority, cannot afford to paid their children’s school fees; especially now that their government stipends are being eliminated.
Possibly, Slonim will need to create some local industries which will bring funds into their community
If Bibi wants the court to be respected, then the court (supreme) must be restructured to be a “democratic” court in every sense of the word. In the meantime, 95% of Israelis know that it is a “Dictatorship”. So if Bibi has any power as the P.M., he should see to make that change. Justice Robert Bork had written about the Israeli Supreme Court system, stating that it was the “worst in the democratic world”, inasmuch as it is a dictatorship in itself, making it very dangerous. They are self pepetuating & appoint themselves.
