Emily Henochowicz, who studying at the Bezalel Academy of Art in Jerusalem and also holds Israeli citizenship, took part in a protest on May 31, shortly after Israel killed nine pro-Palestinian activists in a raid on a Gaza-bound aid flotilla.
Dozens of activists took part in the protest against the Israeli blockade of Gaza next to the Qalandia checkpoint, south of Ramallah.
According to the IDF, demonstrators began to throw stones at the Border Police, after which the army responded by firing tear gas canisters.

She shouldv’e known better.
“took part in a protest” Had she been in school studying she would probably still have that eye
She is left now with an “AYIN TOV”.
Israel has to pay?? What do people think when they throw stones border police? Do they expect a parade in their honor?
I’m sorry, but a little self responsibility here…!
Let her Arab buddies bail her out and pay.
Kudos to Israel. Let Abbas and his cohorts pay her medical bills. She is a total disgrace to all Jews.
I’ll pay to poke out the other eye
how ironic that the Jewish State (rightfully) defends itself against a Jew who was shot by a Border Cop who was most likely a loyal Arab citizen of Israel (most Border cops are Arab; that is why Pals fear them so much – they have their own people’s number).
Finally, Finally, Some common sense on Israel’s part. This is the best and most proven solution . Teach em a lesson and they won’t do it again . Killing nine ppl aboard the flotilla prevented another flotilla from coming through Israel and poking out an eye will stop violent protests. An EyE for an EyE…
i wish the debate would center on payment of funeral expenses
I am not certain, that what she did was a felony, but my understanding is, that in the States, if someone gets injured during the commission of a felony, health or life insurance will not cover the person. So for sure they should not pay a penny for this person. That said the same should go for Charediem if they are involved in any protest and they get injured, the state should not pay for the health insurance.
People in glass houses should not throw stones!
Having said that, how tragic that a fellow Yid is so misguided and has to suffer so much.
Not sure if I admire or am ashamed of the stand Israel is taking on this issue. Were Israel to be consistent in their actions than I might understand its stance but they aren’t. If this injured person were not Jewish they would have received white glove treatment courtesy of the Israeli government, that’s a fact (just do some research). Sure it’s much easier to act tough against a Jew than an arab in Israel, unfortunately. Having said that, of course the injured girl wasn’t using her brain at the time but she needn’t be victimized twice after all arab terrorists with Jewish blood on their hands get better (medical) treatment. Just my humble opinion.
Ask me if I feel sorry. Let her sue her fellow demonstrators for putting her in a precarious position.
So why the surprise? We treat all of our enemies in Israeli hospitals. Why is she any different?
They should give her Moshe Dayan’s eyepatches.
All this does is move the case to court where the government will eventually lose amidst negative publicity. There is a well documented history of the soldiers aiming non-lethal rounds at the protesters in direct contravention of proper equipment use. You should check the chat rooms and social sites frequented by IDF reservists and others on this account. This is a Jewish girl engaged in a protest on a controversial subject well debated within Israeli society and media. Her family are well known for their support of Israel. Prolonging the discussion does nothing to support the legitimate security concerns of Israel. Make no mistake. I support Israel and her right for defense and security. The smart thing would be to pay the damages, correct the soldiers misuse of the equipment and move on.
