Kiryat Gat, Israel – A major train accident, almost in the exact spot where seven people were killed last week when a train hit a van in Kiryat Gat, was prevented when a train engineer pressed the train’s emergency brakes.

On Tuesday, a truck passed over the train tracks on the same road where Thursday’s accident took place, trying to get over the tracks before the guardrail fell, indicating that a train was on the way. The van got stuck on the tracks, however.
A train official who witnessed the incident called the train and told the engineer to make an emergency stop. He managed to do so, stopping the train just meters in front of the van.
Police are questioning the van driver.
Why are drivers not following rules of the road. Stop relying on miracles and impose some more strict safety measures.Roads can be treacherous with no guardrails, ziplining has no safety nets on mountains. When will govt look into that instead of picking on “settlers.”
To #1 : you are 100% correct!! Why is the government of Israel wasting it’s time dealing with completely peripheral items such as settlers and working towards a safe and hopefully peaceful country, when it should be addressing the far more serious problem of Ziplines!?!?!?!

I also think of myself as 100% perfect and many times judge people very fast based on bs.
just think, maybe there is a problem if a van could get stuck on the tracks twice! perhaps the train co is to blame, (and if true, then were all to blame for sinas chinam)
There is a video on youtube of a minivan trying to outrace a train to get by a crossing. the minvan driver swings wide to make the crossing only to be hit by a train coming in the opposite direction and then pushed back into the first train which hits it a second time. Four people were killed including two of the woman drivers daughters. All in order to save four or five minutes. watching the video, it’s questionable whether or not she would’ve cleard the first train if the second would not have hit her from the opposite direction. Where are people’s brains? In this case, all over the tracks.
