The Fort Worth, Texas, airline will charge between $19 and $39 for “Express Seats” — those spots in the first few rows of coach that include bulkhead seats.

The carrier’s parent AMR Corp. said Wednesday that the price of the seats includes getting on the plane in the first “general boarding” group of passengers.

The seats can only be purchased at airport kiosks between 24 hours to 50 minutes prior to the flight for travel within the U.S.

American still provides travelers with the option to pre-reserve other seats in the coach cabin at no charge.

Several other major airlines, including UAL Corp.’s United Airlines and Continental Airlines, also charge for the best seats in coach.

Hey what about using your bathrooms and what about sitting next to windows and what about sitting on isle seats and whats with drinking a cup of water and forget about soda and what about warming the food and what about getting the “above head privileges” like a/c and lights we should all be paying for those free stuff as well.. Etc. I think I should hire an accountant before flying

I hope that disabled and babies still get first priority to bulkheads.

To #4 - Don’t knock El Al. It has the best security in the world, and even the airline industry in the USA, and the flying public is envious of its success regarding security. As Wesley Snipes in “Passenger 57” stated, “Nobody messes with El Al”.

perhaps someone should be thinking of forming a traverlers org. which will follow these ugly pratices of each airline to rape the publics pocket and give recommendations to ones which give us a better deal.
