33-year-old Eion Klass was arrested on charges of 1st and 2nd Degree Murder and Criminal Possession of a Weapon.
The victim, 34-year-old Yosef Robinson, was gunned down by a masked man last week while trying to protect his girlfriend.
It happened last Thursday in Midwood, (as was reported first by Vos Iz Neias).
The New York Daily News reports that Klass was left alone in a room unhandcuffed at the 70th Precinct station house Tuesday when he tried to escape.
Brooklyn, NY – An ex-con who served over a decade in prison for attempted murder was arrested Wednesday for the fatal shooting of a brave Brooklyn liquor store clerk, police said.
Investigators believe Eion Klass, 33, pumped two bullets into Yoseph Robinson when the clerk tried to protect his girlfriend during a robbery last week.
He was charged with first-degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon, police said.
Klass served 11 years in state prison after a 1998 conviction for attempted murder and robbery, according to state records.
He was released in October and remains on parole, according to records.
Detectives zeroed in on Klass, who lives in the Flatlands section of Brooklyn, after receiving a tip that the ex-con tried to rob the MB Vineyards liquor store in Midwood last Thursday.
Investigators unearthed a license plate for the suspect’s car and took him into custody early Tuesday, police said.
While questioning him for Robinson’s murder, cops charged him with a robbery committed elsewhere in Brooklyn on June 28, according to Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly.
Though Klass has not confessed to the killing, detectives believe the evidence against him is strong enough to warrant the murder charge, according to police sources.
Klass tried to flee the 70th Precinct in Brooklyn when he was briefly left alone in a holding cell Tuesday evening, Kelly said.
“The handcuffs were taken off him and he attempted to escape,” Kelly said. “He was taken back into custody and he suffered some scrapes and bruises.”
Kelly said Klass refused medical attention.
Robinson, 34, was talking to his new girlfriend Lahavah Wallace in the liquor store when a masked Klass burst in, police said.
When the gunman pointed his revolver at Wallace’s head, Robinson made a desperate lunge for the gun – only to be fatally shot.
The Jamaican-born Robinson left a hip-hop career and turned away from a troubled past to convert to Judaism eleven years ago. He was mourned in an emotional memorial service Monday night.

Boruch Hashem they caught him I hope they make an example out of this scum bag.
11 years for robbery and attempted MURDER and then let him go to actually MURDER and take such a special life, while Rubashkin, who poses no threat to society, actually contributing to society in positive ways, gets 27 years. Nice system we have here. Seems like common sense is not part of the legal system here. Then again, its run by liberals, so how could I have expected common sense?
B”h wow I’m very happy I waited 2 hear the good news… what country its the second murder that he did
I wonder if the perp is Jewish. There are many yidden named Klass where Iive.
Can anyone explain how an ex-convict can get a gun?
NYPD the new Scotland Yard! We are privileged to have such highly skilled, organized, and professional police force.

Oy how well said!!
#6 it’s very easy to get one on the mean streets of NYC or for that matter probably most large cities. It’s only the law abiding citizen who wants to/needs to carry that goes thru a difficult process to get a license to carry. I hope this horrible animal never gets to see the light of day again … is locked up for life and that justice is really served. Please.. there can be no liberal sob stories for this cold blooded killer.
Olam Hofuch hu. A murderer gets 11 years, a non criminal gets 27!
He looks. Like an arab to me its not that hard to americanize a name
A man that’s a threat to society (a killer) gets locked up for 10 years, and rubaskin gets 27 years!? we must conclude that there is a Ribono She’ll Olum who is running the world!!!
Its really a shame there is no death penalty in new york state it a fact that it brings down crime. In Delaware and New Hampshire even hanging is still allowed for capital punishment.
Yemach Shemo vezichro may he rot in hell
And great job NYPD!!!
#3 How do you decide that the criminal justice system is run by liberals? It is enjoyable to read the comments that say a Jew is never guilty, while a non-Jew is. I certainly hope that this defendant is found guilty and sentenced to life without parole. Before any of my conservative friends start screaming for the death penalty remember there is none in New York. As to #11 . Until there is a reversal R. is a criminal. Whether he deserves 27 years is a completely different story.

YES indeed, our system is not normal.
This guy looks like a “peace loving” Muslim to me…
A few questions for the readers!
all? He should get 50 years just for his image,,,
1) Y is he called an x-con not a current con?
2)Y was he release for attempted murder after only 11 short years, when ppl who get caught with financial fraud 2 7 lifetime sentences?
3) How silly can the cops be, when questioning some1 for possible murder charges 2 leave him alone in a room un-cuffed
4)Y does this animal walk the streets
If anyone can shed some light plz do so,,

while i am all for having rubashkins sentence reduced, not EVERY sentencing has to be compared.
I wonder if the perp is Jewish. There are many yidden named Klass where Iive.
did you actually read the article, or did you just read the headline?
Great job new york!!!
How do the cops not keep the cuffs on an ex con arrested for murder and thus allowing him to try to escape. The cops in that horrible precient are lucky he didn’t go for their guns.
Its time for a new commanding officer over there. The place needs a real clean up. Even the cops themselves are complaining.
Hey Folks, now that his killer YMSH”M has been apprehended, please consider this: The owner of the store, for those who know him or don’t, is an absolutely nice and special family man. He has not been open (for business) for the past week for the obvious reasons. We must remember that his parnasah has been greatly affected by this tragic incident and as such, community members should make every effort to travel and patronize his establishment (MB Vinyards) to boost him in ALL ways. Even if his price is NOT the absolute lowest in the tri-state area, just consider the multifold chesed you will be doing. May we know of no more tragedy and may one and all have a shnas geulah…
My question is not why there is a discrepency in jail time because one is federal law and the other is state. My question is why isn’t it illegal to kill acc. to federal law? Our wonderful US legislature decided fraud is so bad -we have to prohibit it on the federal level. How come our congress and senate don’t feel violent crimes should be outlawed on the federal level?
why is the ole smokey in forced retirement? we need to get these sicko liberals out and put in some gunslingers.lets get the death penalty back.
# 25 because federal law is not interested in violent crimes or killings. they only go after money issues. They couldnt give a crap about murder. That’s why a killer (usually) gets approx 10-15 years and if you commit wire or mail fraud ( just by making a phone call or mailing a letter) you can get a hefty 7- 12 years. Our govt is more intent in putting people away for white collar crimes, espesially if youre a jew than for violent crimes. There’s no money or interest( for the govt) in violent crimes, only white collar crimes. look, it took the the feds RICO statuets to put Gotti and other famous mafia leaders in jail. with all the killings, and other violence, they still couldnt put them away. It took simple telephone calls, and mail fraud to get them. Of course Gravano also gave em a hand.
#24 said “Even if his price is NOT the absolute lowest in the tri-state area,”… just so happens to be that the prices in MB Vineyards are excellent. I have patronized this fine establishment many times and have always left feeling satisfied. Among other things, they always have great sales, unparalleled service and a staff who really know their stuff. I remember fondly talking with Reb Yoseph a”h about the different products and tasting and comparing different wines with him. He will be sorely missed. Yz”b.
I hope he gets off so that a bunch of big Jews like me can get him alone in an alley…
Let’s just say that I don’t believe that being in violation of the Geneva convention is negative in this case, and the type of torture to which I would subject him would involve a soundproof basement and surgical tools.
IN chullin 7b it specifically states, that Even a stubbed toe is min hashamayim.
Who are we to ? the RS”O reasoning. Only in Olam Emes will we find out.
May the geula come soon.
I have so many questions and NO answers.

Why do people like you feel compelled to make such stupid remarks about such a great tragedy?
Do you REALLY hope he gets off? Do you REALLY have a “bunch of big Jews” like you who have a soundproof basement and surgical tools to torture him with? And what would you do with the body? Why go to all that ttrouble? Why not walk into the 70th Pct with some friends to distract the police and shoot him with a silencer?
Does talking so tough make you feel like a big shot? Does it bring back R’ Yoseph, A”H?
Why don’t you just brag about this big plan of yours to your buddies in shul, and don’t make a mockery of this situation with your childish nahrishkeit.
R’ Yoseph’s memory deserves better than stupid comments like this about him.

Thats why he wrapped himself up so YR wont recognize him. Perhaps , though, YR recognized his voice and thats why he went after him. Crazy perp, deserved ot be put away forever.

1. Are you really so naive that you compare two different crimes, different courts, different juries, different charges and different times and ask why there is a disparity in sentences?
2. Who is the non-criminal who got 27 years? I only know of a convicted felon who this happened to to. What “non-criminal” are you talking about?
11 Yesterday basmelech Says: Olam Hofuch hu. A murderer gets 11 years, a non criminal gets 27!
#33 ,
You’re correct, it was a stupid comment, it just angers me to know that he’ll probably go to prison and get three meals a day and a bed, make some friends, and then get out in a few years….
Although if, in theory, I did get him into a sound proof basement, I wouldn’t cause him any physical harm at all. I would give him several thousand micrograms of lysergic acid diethylamide through IV and convince him that I’ve implanted egg laying bugs in his brainstem.
He would then kill himself.
HaNavon you are so brave. Threatening this murderer from the safety of your computer. Perhaps you should sound proof your basement. Never can tell who is getting out of jail to visit you.
