“We saw a crying volunteer, and at first we did not understand what was happening – he has seen many disasters before,” Zaka volunteer Isaac Bernstein told The Jerusalem Post.

“Then he started shouting, ‘That’s my wife! That’s my wife!’ We took him away from the scene immediately,” Bernstein added.

Ben-Haim was taken to his home in Bet Hagai by his colleagues.

Israeli police and inspectors around the car shot up outside the Jewish settlement of Kiryat Arab in the West Bank, late 31 August 2010. Four Israelis were shot and killed near the Kiryat Arba settlement in the West Bank, the Israeli army confirmed, in an attack coming just ahead of the resumption of Israeli-Palestinian direct negotiations. A military spokeswoman said two women and two men were killed while riding in a car at the Bani Naim intersection near Kiryat Arba, an Israeli settlement located just outside the city of Hebron. She said that the attacker or attackers opened fire from a hiding spot. According to Israeli media, one of the dead was a pregnant woman. All four victims were believed to be of the same family.
