Beit Shemesh – The women known as “Taliban mom,” who was convicted of gravely abusing six of her 12 children will serve her full prison sentence of four years, the High Court ruled Monday.

July of 2009 saw the Jerusalem District Court convict the woman of aggravated assault and abuse of a minor. Her husband was convicted of assault, abuse and failing to report child abuse and was sentenced to six months in prison.
Simultaneously, the State Prosecution appealed the sentencing, which it viewed as too lenient, and asked to court to order a harsher sentence. The High Court rejected this motion as well.
Authorities originally sought to charge the woman with abusing all 12 of her children. The final indictment included multiple counts of abuse against only six of them, both due to some of the cases falling under the statute of limitations, and the fact that several of the children refused to testify.
Attorney Eitan Lehman, for the mother, told Ynet that “The High Court’s decision to uphold the District Court’s ruling only intensifies the very uncomfortable feeling that the systems has failed in this case.”
Attorney Deri Hazan, who represents the children, told Ynet that “They are very disappointed and will no appeal to the Prison Probation Committee. They are relieved that the court did not exacerbate her punishment.”

anyone who hurts a child should be banned from any shul anywhere
there is no halacha to ban a person from shule for abuseing a child.but it would be nice.are these the folks who burned there children with ciggerettes to instruct them to behave?if so its also a pity its not done to them in return.
To Yoel # 1…Shilchen urec says nowhere that a child abuser is banned from a shul ,but someone who talks all thru davening is banned and cursed….Please look in the mirror and take a good look if you are so perfect that you know who should be banned…
Yossi, are you trying to say that someone who talks thru davening is worse than a child abuser? A second grader could understand that the shilchen urec did not need to specify such a punishment for a child abuser on the simple premise of kal v’chomer. And in general, do you not agree that child abusers should be held with the highest contempt (yes even more so than people who talk all thru davening)?
