The Staten Island Advance says the incidents occurred from October 2009 to June 2010. Authorities say the bullies called the boy a “terrorist,” frequently punched him in the groin and spit in his face.

The boy said he hoped the bullying would end when he left intermediate school. He finally told his family after learning that two of the alleged tormentors were in his high school class.

NYPD Lt. John Grimpel says three 14-year-olds and a 15-year-old are charged with assault and aggravated harassment as a hate crime.

The Muslim family immigrated from Trinidad in the 1980s.

This is nothing more then a high school fight. Its ridiculous and absurd to use tax payer money to prosecute high school bullies. These matter should be handled by school officials and the children’s parents. THIS is what happens when governments get to big, and start dealing with street issues. I am not saying that school bullying is not a problem, its a very serious problem and deeply affects students of all ages, but to prosecute a 15 for fighting with a Muslim boy as a “hate crime” that has just gone too far.

Hey there Commissioner: What part of the article were you reading? It distinctly says that these bullies kept calling the victim a terrorist. It seems rather obvious that he was picked on for being a Muslim – and crimes like this have no place in a public high school.

If he was Jewish it would be kids are normally like this. The kids should be prosecuted and punished not a slap on the wrist

    #1 ,

I was bullied by rednecks when I was in junior high school, some of whom sang Nazi songs. I would have loved to have had the local DA put these thugs in their place.
