Brooklyn, NY – The man accused of mowing down a beloved yeshiva teacher faces up to 25 years in prison after a grand jury indicted him on aggravated vehicular homicide charges.

Anel Kolenovic ran through a red light at Ocean Avenue and Avenue N while driving recklessly on Nov. 29, 2010, killing Moshe Berkowitz and injuring two other women, authorities charged.
He was initially charged with criminally negligent homicide – a much less serious crime – but a grand jury returned a 16-count indictment, which included previously uncharged drunk-driving offenses.
Brooklyn Supreme Court Justice Patricia DiMango ordered Kolenovic’s bail doubled to $400,000 abd told him to return to court on April 14.

To #2 - when does the Russian community ever speak out publicly, about the miscreants in its own community? In the 1970’s we publicly demonstrated for the right of Soviet Jewry to leave Russia and come to both Eretz Yisrael and the USA. Is this the thanks that we receive, vis-a-vis the Russian Mafia, and Russians engaging in crimes of violence?
To #3- Regarding your referring to the cops about their opinions of us, please!! The cops are very biased against Jews. I worked with them for years, and I am well aware of their modus operandi. They would refer to Chassidim as “the beards”. In 2006, they showed their true colors when they responded to Borough Park with overwhelming force. They engaged in excessive physical force against the crowds, which they wouldn’t have dared use in Bay Ridge or Bed-Stuy.
