Jerusalem – Thousands of Israelis turned out at the Givat Shaul cemetery in Jerusalem on Sunday for the funerals of five members of the same family killed Friday night in a brutal attack in their home at the West Bank settlement of Itamar.

Speakers at the service spoke of the tragedy that took place and how it cannot be allowed to break the spirit and determination of the Jewish people to settle and live on the land of Israel.
Chief Rabbi Yona Metzger told mourners that “the murderers did succeed, but only in uniting us.” “No one can remain apathetic” after this event, he said.
Metzger cried out that Itamar needs to become a city that is a mother of Israel in response to this event. “Another neighborhood, that’s the answer. More building, that’s the answer,” he said.
The chief rabbi repeated the phrase, “In Yehuda, we will always settle and Jerusalem from generation to generation.”

Vice Premier Moshe “Bugi” Ya’alon blamed the Palestinian Authority and its “education of violence” as the cause of the murderous terrorism that struck on Friday. He added that “our neighbors’ education denies our right to the land [of Israel],” teaching their children that “from the Jordan [River] to the sea, Jews have no rights [to live].”
Ya’alon predicted that the murderers of the Fogal family will have city squares named after them and be honored by PA. In light of this, he said that any agreement signed with the Palestinians isn’t worth the paper it’s printed on.
Saying that “we need to continue what our fathers did, to keep building,” the vice premier said that now is not the time to dwell on security and new security packages. “We have never given up on our right to this land,” he said. “Anyone who gives up this right won’t have security either.”
As revenge for the death of Udi, Ruth, Elad, Yoav and Hadas Fogel, “we will live, we will continue to build and to plant, we will continue to grip onto the land of Israel: in Itamar, in Beit Hagai, in Hebron and in Jerusalem, everywhere and any time,” Knesset Speaker Reuven Rivlin said Sunday, speaking at the funeral of the Fogel family in Givat Shaul.
“More construction, more life, more hanging onto the land. This is our answer to the murderers, so that they know they haven’t gotten the better of us. We will awaken our right to build anywhere and at anytime. Construction in Israel is not a retaliation or revenge for the victim,” Rivlin said.
“You were a moved and a symbol of the allegiance of the Zionist, the Jew, the Israeli. Despite all the difficulties, you believed and you overcame the hardships.”
Five members of the Fogel family were killed in a terror attack in the West Bank settlement of Itamar on Friday night. Udi, 36, his wife Ruth, 35, and their children Yoav, 11, Elad, 4 and Hadas, 3 months were stabbed to death by a terrorist who infiltrated the settlement. The family is survived by their three additional children.
It is time for Israel to take immediate action! It is not time to shrug one’s shoulders and say, “What could we do?” as has been the goverment’s response for so many years. The goverment should protect its people. The goverment should immediately send a large force of tanks into the PA areas and encircle the PA headquarters and demand that the leaders of the Al Aqusa Martyr’s Brigrade be haned over for immediate execution. Enough is enough! Words do not work with terrorists and thugs. prompt and swift retaliation is the only language they understand. Why should Israel sit calmly by and allow these things to happen? In the 50s, 60s and 70s when Israel retaliated the Arabs reduced their terror attacks and were afraid to start up with Israel. Now that they know that they will not be punished in the slightest way for their crimes they will continue to attack. The foolish Tel Aviv residents think that there can be peace with such animals. I think you stated the problem very well and I agree. If the PM ignores this crime without getting tough with the Nazi animals the world’s Jews then must pressure the PM to act and retaliate as was done in the early days of Israel. In the 50s Ariel Sharon stopped terrorist attacks coming from Jordon all by himself. He went into Jordan alone and killed 10 Arabs for every Jew killed. Guess what, after these reprisals the Jordanian Army made sure that no terror attacks could be launched from Jordan. I think it is about time we revive this proven method again.
Israel’s worst enemy is itself. They should not rely on permission from anyone to do what they need to do. Since when does a county need to ask if they can build for its own people. Israel needs to step up the plate and defend its own. Why worry about countries that dont worry about them?
If they want a solution to what has happend on Fri night, its quite simple.

I lived in Israel for 8 years and I was in a unit that patrolled the border areas.

I understand killing a Jewish, specially orthodox, family is very ugly and unforgiving, but I CAN see it from the eyes of the Palestinians. unfortunately terror is a way nations communicate. human life IS cheap. Just in Iraq, a quarter of a million were killed SINCE the US invasion. The US also terrorized and killed numerous innocent civilian caught in cross fires of wars and “actions” by our presidents; this is just a way of life, until it hits somewhat home, then we get to personalize it.
There IS a prolonged conflict between the Palestinians and the Jewish state. I find it truly sad to read the comments written after the article.It is very sad what happened to the Fogel family and the article made me sad for them but the comments afterward make me feel ashamed.
