New York – A review of federal inspection reports on mid-Hudson commercial bus companies show that the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration has pegged two motor coach operators for increased scrutiny based on violations.

Hudson Transit Lines, better known as Coach USA/Short Line, and the Gray Line New York tour buses that bring shoppers from New York City to the Woodbury Common Premium Outlets have been tagged with alerts, meaning they’ve had enough violations in 24 months to put them on the FMCSA’s radar for priority roadside inspections and interventions.

It’s a shame that is took several serious accidents and the loss of many lives to wake up the authorities to what may or may not be the negligent behavior of bus companies and their drivers. Coach USA is a line used by many during the summer months to get back and forth to the Catskills. I do know that they have a maintenance facility in Mahwah NJ and a garage in Maywood NJ. Whether the work done there is good will be decided by the government inspection professionals. All interstate and intrastate bus lines need to be carefully checked to insure public safety.
