The findings, released Wednesday, are from a Health Department air quality study.

The city estimates that a quarter-million pedestrians enter Times Square each day.

Over the past two years, the city has banned cars from parts of Times Square, Union Square and Herald Square.

It abandoned a plan for a pedestrian plaza in the middle of 34th Street. Businesses and residents had complained that drivers looking for alternate routes across Manhattan would increase traffic on side streets.

    To Mr. Bloomberg

You can go back to the old days. Ban cars all together and air quality will improve.

Everyone should drive a bike and only King Bloomberg will drive around with no traffic in the city and go to Bermuda every week.

How typical of this tiny person!! Make up a stat to support your foolish liberal agenda and hope people believe it.

Well I REFUSE to believe this stat. Will I perhaps agree that the air ‘may’ be better than it would be if one was lip locking an exhaust pipe? Perhaps. However, does he think we are stupid enough not to think that the air from the surrounding streets & avenues don’t make it to Times Square?

What about using foolish liberal hypocrisy and saying that more people on Times Square means more carbon dioxide from human breath or methane from human flatulence??!!
