After bin Laden was killed in a raid by U.S. forces in Pakistan, senior administration officials said the body would be handled according to Islamic practice and tradition. That practice calls for the body to be buried within 24 hours, the official said. Finding a country willing to accept the remains of the world’s most wanted terrorist would have been difficult, the official said. So the U.S. decided to bury him at sea.
The official, who spoke Monday on condition of anonymity to discuss sensitive national security matters, did not immediately say where that occurred.
Isn’t there laws against dumping garbage in the ocean? 😉
Wow. Buried acc to Islamic traditions. And Americans are evil huh. If it was the other way around the person wud have a diff limb hanging all over the world.
as it says in posuk,
“V’sashlich b’mitzilos yum kol chatosom”!
The should bring him back to the US and hang the body in time sq
Sorry, but what gave us the notion that he needed a respectful burial? What’s wrong with taking the body to a farm in Iowa and feeding it to hogs?
Mi Vamayim U’mi Va Aish?
But if the Arab street never sees him dead, how will they believe he will not return to live another day?
I actually prefer the phrase, “dumped at sea.”
Thank you.
WHy cant they tell the truth. Its not because a country wouldnt take him. Any Muslim nation would take him just for the tourist pilgrimage dollars. Its because they didnt want anyone venerating him in death. I hope they buried him with a pig.
My guts tells me. That he is being waterboarded right now.
Anybody else think so?
Sorry for my ignorance, but could anyone explain, in plain english, what “at sea” means
It might be that the whole thing is a game and it was not him killed! We will never know.
“at sea” means he was dumped into the ocean. fish food. shark bait.
Obama properly recognized that there is a concept of “kavod hames” that derives from daas torah and that even yidden are obligated to treat the bodies of their enemies with respect during wartime. This was the right decision from both a political and moral perspective. We must respect Shariah law and muslim tradition if we want the same for our laws and traditions.
Greenpeace should protest against pollution in international waters. A shark could easily die of poisoning now.
They should have burned him and spread his ashes over the sea. Like the Israeli did to Eichaman ym”s
They should of brought him to New York hand him on a chopper, circle NY 3 times and say Zeh Chalefusi and then burn him on the steel structure of the new twin towers and have his ashes engraved in the new memorial site..Yemach shemoy vzichroy..
guess this means we cant spit on his grave
Just hope they threw him in Yam Hamelech and the salt will tzip him for days..
