Police Officer Albie Esparza said a community center at 3200 California St. received the bomb threat and reported it to police at about 8:25 a.m. A spokeswoman for the Jewish Community Center confirmed the organization was the target of the threat.

Police evacuated the building and blocked off an area near California Street and Presidio Avenue while they searched the building.

As of about 10:20 a.m., K-9 units were still trying to determine if the threat was real, Esparza said. The streets have reopened to cars, but pedestrians are still being asked to stay away.
