Washington – Feds Launch Fresh Investigations Based on Bin Laden’s Hit List

Washington – The feds have launched fresh counterterrorism investigations in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Washington, DC, and other major US cities based on solid leads gleaned from the cache of terror secrets seized by Navy SEALs in the raid on Osama bin Laden’s Pakistan lair, The Post has learned.

Analysts working around the clock out of a joint FBI-CIA center in suburban Washington have supplied field teams with actionable intelligence taken from al Qaeda paperwork, DVDs and computer drives on possible terrorist activity throughout the United States, multiple sources said.

White House National Security Adviser Tom Donilon has said the seized files constitute a “a small college library” worth of intelligence.

A counterterrorism official said the intelligence led to an increase in surveillance operations and new applications for warrants from the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act Court in Washington.

So far, analysts have not found evidence of any concrete plots against US targets at home or abroad.

The material includes “ruminations, desires, aspirations, things to think about. And they’ve found a lot of the internal stuff, who their players are,” the official said.

FBI special agents have opened case files following up on the new intelligence.

The official declined to elaborate on any leads, saying, “Obviously, it’s very sensitive stuff.”
