New York, NY – A day after his cops busted another pair of alleged terrorist plotters, Police Commissioner Ray Kelly got another bouquet of good news — he’s more popular than ever.

A Quinnipiac University poll showed that 71 percent of New Yorkers approve of the top cop’s performance, compared to 17 percent who don’t.
The numbers were the highest since Quinnipiac began measuring Kelly’s popularity more than nine years ago.
Even before the poll’s release yesterday, former Gov. David Paterson was predicting on New York 1 that Kelly would enter the 2013 mayoral race. Paterson said he came to that conclusion because Kelly keeps turning up at events that he’s also attending.
But the commissioner, who once said he “doesn’t have the DNA” to enter elective politics, said he has his hands full running the NYPD.
“I’m running for police commissioner every day. Believe me, it’s like Pac-Man — they’re after you every day,” Kelly said. “So I’m just focused on this job. I have no plans to run for any elective office.”
