Pollard struggled to contain his emotions discussing his wife Esther’s declining health. Esther, who also attended the meeting, told the ambassador she did not know how much longer her husband could survive in jail.

Pollard pleaded with Oren to urge President Shimon Peres and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to act on his behalf before it is too late. No one believed I would be here for 26 years, he said.

This is the first time in three years that Pollard has received a visit by a formal representative of the government of Israel. Pollard also mentioned his own failing health during the meeting.

Ambassador Oren conveyed his condolences on the death of Pollard’s father and noted Israel’s efforts to arrange a meeting between the two prior to the father’s death.

He said that Netanyahu wished to convey a personal message saying he was committed to Pollard’s release as soon as possible.

Pollard was scheduled to undergo surgery on Tuesday which was postponed by prison management at the last minute.

Why hasn’t he filed a plea for clemency as he is allowed to do under the law. Why to they expect Obama to act in the absence of such a request. Also, the article goes back and forth between his wife’s health and his health. Which one of them has the health problem?

No one can threaten Obama with resignation at this point, as he wont be voted again for president anyways, so he can pardon him right b4 he leaves office… if he really wants to, he could, no excuses…

To #9 - What about the American Indian, U.S. Marine, who while stationed at the U.S. Embassy in Moscow, sold damaging classified information to the Soviet Union? The Marine only served ten years. Then, there was the case of a former F.B.I. Special Agent (with over 20 years on the job), who also sold out his country by selling classified information to the Soviet Union. The Special Agent also served ten years. Therefore, those who claim that there haven’t been others who have received lighter sentences than Pollard for similar crimes, are 100% wrong. Pollard has essentially become a political pawn between the Arabists in the State Department, and the anti-Israel lobby. He is being continuously incarcerated in the hope that Israel will be forced into further concessions. Before he died, the late Caspar Weinberger (who argued for a life sentence for Pollard), stated that he was not opposed to his release.

PUH-LEEZ. We all know that if Pollard’s name were Mohammed and he had spied for Egypt or Saudi Arabia (our “ally”), he would be free by now. If you disagree, you’re denying reality.

We all know that JP committed a crime, but he did not deserve a life sentence.

The State Department is infested with pan-Arabists and Jew-hating scum like Hillary Clinton. Look up her “interaction” with Paul Fray and Suha Arafat
