Both Israeli and Palestinian officials acknowledged Tuesday they remain far from a breakthrough in efforts to revive peace talks, despite a frantic U.S. push.

An Israeli TV station said Monday that Netanyahu had accepted President Barack Obama’s proposal to commit to a near-total withdrawal from the West Bank.

The official says Netanyahu is willing to “show some flexibility” on the border issue, but won’t elaborate. He also says Netanyahu expects Palestinian flexibility on other issues.

He spoke on condition of anonymity because he was discussing a sensitive diplomatic matter.

Don’t hold your breath. Palestinians never concede anything. Flexibility is not in their vocabulary, and they will reject any suggestions of such. Then they will blame Israel for intransigence. It is high time Obama realized this, declared US policy to be contingent on Palestinian flexibility. A little “bullying” for the Palestinians (in contrast to plenty of it imposed on Israel) might get us somewhere. If anyone is expecting a gesture of good will from the Muslim world, I have a better idea. Go back to sleep.

Now I’m worried. If yesterdays story was not true, The “spokesman” should just flat out stated “NO! It’s not rue!” Period! What we got is “…is willing to “show some flexibility” on the border issue, but won’t elaborate.” Typical diplomatic double talk.

    We is in trouble.

The US is frantic for several reasons, Barry Soetoro is going down the tubes, even the dems are disgusted at his lack of leadership in the budget deliberations, he is a total failure, he throws a baseball like a little girl, he is a lousy golfer, AND there are other countries that want UN recognition that the world does not want to grant. The Palis are a fly in the ointment, the US is desperate to get them to back off. South Somalia, Bosnia, etc if you grant one you have to grant all and since Barry is a Muslim, he can not afford to look as bad as he does to teh Arab world.
Bottom line is the Palis do NOT want a State, they are the biggest schnorrers in history, if they have a state they can’t schnorr and if they can’t schnorr Abbas’s bank account will not grow, neither will the machers in the PA and Hamas. They can’t even create their own jobs, if not for our construction, factories, supermarkets, etc. the working arab would starve. You think they want to give up working for us? Gas, Electric, telephone, water they all mooch off of us. They can’t handle a state. they can’t even merge with Hamas to be one body yet.
