New York, NY – The city’s Lower East River bridges now have baby-sitters – paid safety experts stationed on the spans to make sure cyclists and pedestrians play nice.

Sporting bright yellow vests, the city contractors quietly took up their posts for the first time Monday on the Brooklyn, Manhattan and Williamsburg bridges.
They’ll be there until Nov. 26 to encourage two-wheelers and hoofers to keep to their side of the roads. The Transportation Department refused to say how much the program will cost taxpayers.
The majestic crossing may be the most disputed territory in the sometimes nasty war between bikers and walkers.
“Paying four people full-time salaries to make sure people don’t go into the bike lanes seems like a waste,” said Stefan Smagula, 44, who walks across the bridge from DUMBO to his job at a Web startup every day.
“It’s crazy. They would be better off putting up those flexible dividers.”
That’s Bloomie for you. He complains about the city being broke, cuts essential services and raises everything from parking meter rates to property and water/sewer taxes but he finds money to hire some idiots to sit (and sleep) in a booth on a bridge watching bicycles go by. Mike, It’s time to retire to the old age home!
With the dangereous speedballs flying on their bicycles, it is only a matter of time before a bicyclist hits or starts with the wrong person. The bicyclist will have happen to him what happens every Saturday nite in this city to innocent people.
next they will start installing speed bumps for the bikes.
this is all out of hand
So every day we ask ourselves how much more can this idiotic mayor shove it down our throat, and it just continues to go on and on and on….you just can’t make it up.
Darn–can’t drive my minivan in the bike lane anymore.
Would someone kindly explain this near-psychotic obsession that New York Jews seem to have against bicycle riders, please?
