Manhattan, NY – There was a collective sigh of relief — and good riddance — from the residents and business owners surrounding Zuccotti Park yesterday.

After two months of impenetrable barricades, aggressive panhandling, public urination and seemingly interminable drumming — locals were beaming over getting back their lives and livelihoods after cops cleared the park.
“Its a glorious day. I take my hat off to the police,” said Marc Epstein, owner of the Milk Street Cafe at 40 Wall St., two blocks from the former encampment.
“I‘m grateful to the police that they did it without any serious injury. There is a reason they are called New York’s Finest,” he said.
Epstein laid off 21 staffers two weeks ago as the raucous demonstrators coupled with necessary police barricades stifled breakfast and lunch crowds and cut his revenue by 30 percent.
Let’s make an effort to get down there. It would be a great comeback story.
great news.
Do they deliver? Those who can’t get there can call for delivery if they do deliver.
Best of luck to them.
I hope this business does well…however the current situation is that they can stay there just without tents, blankets or sleeping there. I’m afraid the the decision to allow them back will not eliminate all of the issues connected to this mess. The barricades are still up and although there were some porta potties set up nearby I hope these anarchists use them. My question is will the drum banging and music at all hours be allowed to continue? Hopefully not!!
What about tomorrow when they threaten to close down Wall Street?
Please do go there as often as possible…He’s marrying off a daughter in the spring… 😉
In 2002, there were several fleisheck kosher restaurants very close to Ground Zero. It appears that they are gone. Therefore, the dairy Milk Street Cafe must be supported.
A simple question: under whose השגחה does this restaurant fall?
It is under O.U. AND it is both dairy and meat. There are separate counters and disposal utensils. And the food is terrific!
kol hakavod to the NYPD for ridding the area of that trash. wish i was in NYC today to get a sandwich.
