Borough Park, NY – Local Councilman Awed by Visit to Lakewood Yeshiva

Borough Park, NY – While visiting Lakewood for a wedding this past Monday night, Brooklyn Councilman Brad Lander (39th Council District) took the opportunity to pay a visit to Bais Medrash Govoha, where he received a guided tour from Rabbi Moshe Gleiberman, Vice President and Administrator of the yeshiva.

“It was incredible to see the intense learning that took place in room after room, as hundreds of people were engaged in serious study,” Lander told VIN News.

Lander also met with Lakewood Mayor Menashe Miller and the two discussed the respective needs of their communities.

“Despite the fact that Lakewood is a young growing community and Brooklyn is more established, we both are in need of affordable housing for the many young families that are among our constituents and we can take lessons from each other in dealing with the challenges that we both face,” said Lander.

Lander confessed to being inspired by his visit to the well known yeshiva.

“Seeing the commitment of those who are in the yeshiva studying the tenets of Jewish faith and Jewish law strengthened my confidence that the Jewish nation will continue endure for future generations,” said Lander. “So many of my constituents in Brooklyn are engaged in similar studies and witnessing the dedication to Jewish studies in Lakewood served to strengthen my commitment to the many yeshiva students in our community.”
