Bronx, NY – So, that’s why that old Bronx storage site was using so much electricity.

Based on a tip — and a check of Con Ed records that showed a huge electric bill — cops yesterday raided a five-story walk-up building in the Morris Park section and turned up a homegrown, jungle-like pot operation that generated $3 million a year.
Behind the roll-up gate and bricked-up windows at 610 Morris Park Ave. was a massive hydroponic marijuana farm with an illicit assembly line that processed hundreds of pounds of weed using special ventilation, lighting, pipes, a carbon-dioxide system and other horticulture equipment, authorities said.
“Con Ed estimated that the amount of electricity being diverted was enough to illuminate a city block,” said a police source.
That’s why there are blackouts in the summer! We need to feed these crackpots weed! Unbelievable!
Why is the article (quoting a cop as saying) the electricity was “diverted”, which implies it was stolen? The same clip says “Con Ed records… showed a huge electric bill.”
