Pashkevilen (religious ads) published in Jerusalem’s ultra-Orthodox neighborhoods, claim the iPod, iPad, Blackberry and iPhone may deteriorate children’s education to “bottomless pits”.

An Eda Haredit source told Ynet’s local portal, Mynet, that the new battle was launched due to the smartphones’ growing popularity in the haredi sector.

“We have a problem,” he admits. “The different iPhones are no longer just phones, but computers for all intents and purposes, and some of the people have become accustomed to buying them.

That’s the problem with these people. They think that everything falls under the rubric of “milchemes Hashem.”

They mistake the tofel for the ikkur on such a regular basis that they are just going to be looked at, even by mainstream charedim, as just a bunch of fools.

The only think in a bottomless pit are the minds of these Eidah rabbonim. The leaders of chabad and other Chassidus have shown how the internet can be a positive force for yiddeshkeit and for expanding the minds and intellect of their children as well as providing them with the tools to pursue a parnassah in contemporary society. The Eidah, however, seems intent on condemning their children to poverty and dysfunction by denying them the basic tools of contemporary society.

The Eida, hechsher aside, has become such an insignificant institution that it’s sad, and this is just another reason why.
No one says these technological advances don’t pose an exposure problem to today’s youth, but instead being part of the establishment in trying to find a viable workable alternative or solution, they wage another “holy war” (Pashkevilen -religious ads LOL).Finally another reason to Do what they do best, demonstrate,to threaten, burn & destroy anyone suspected of looking at a smartphone.
Let’s call them by what they are, a pathetic buncha losers not worthy of any headlines.

One of the major Gedoylim was approached by some askunim who wanted a signature from him against smart phones..The gudel said that he can not sign because he dosent want his signature to be meaningless..He said that we are now in “neen sharei timeh “and only Moshiach will be able to get us out of there…
Its up to every parent to educate their children about the danger of smartphones and internet….Can someone explain to me that if a child comes home and watches his parents on his Blackberry or Iphone all night why wouldnt he want to get on to a smartphone.? The childs brain thinks there must be something very interesting on those phones if my parents ignore me since they bought those new phones..

The problem is not their message its their means. We all know that young children unmonitored on the Internet is dangerous.
What they need to do is provide awareness and education. Terrorist methods don’t work.
