New York, NY – City officials are planning the mother of all illegal-cab crackdowns — and they’ll have the parking lot to prove it.
Top taxi brass want to acquire an entire tow pound solely for storing seized illegal livery cabs, a move that could triple the number of vehicles taken off the street every day, officials said.

The Taxi & Limousine Commission is looking for a private partner to operate the desperately needed storage facility. Officials will be issuing a request for proposal in coming weeks.
The TLC currently has no storage space of its own for seized vehicles. Instead, it shares the already-cramped NYPD tow pound.
Maybe we’ll finally get these reckless animals of the streets….I second the move.
A person should be allowed to make a Living without being labeled an “illegal”. The government has no business handing out or selling “permits” to make a Living. Just because the TLC kickbacks to the city, it doesn’t make their business more legal than someone who goes it alone.
I recently tried incorporating a new business, you wouldn’t believe the cost that’s involved just to get the various permits, and to set up shop.
The government doesn’t have to save you from wild car service drivers. You could do it on your own. If you think that Latino out Russian drivers are wild, use only the Turks from the ‘permitted’ yellow cabs. I need the city to figure it out for me?
