Jerusalem – Israeli police are investigating hate graffiti and vandalism in an Israeli community built especially for Jews and Arabs to coexist peacefully.

Police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said Friday that “death to Arabs” was sprayed on buildings, and car tires were slashed in Neve Shalom near Jerusalem. The village was founded in the 1970s to show that Jews and Arabs can live together in peace.
Some graffiti said “revenge” and referenced outposts, which could mean it was retaliation by extremist Israeli settlers to protest government action.
This week Israel’s parliament endorsed demolishing an unauthorized West Bank outpost.
Palestinians claim the West Bank as part of their future state and will resume peace talks only if Israel stops building there. Israel says land issues should be resolved in negotiations without preconditions.
