Israel – Report: Shouting Match Between Netanyahu, US Ambassador Shapiro on Obama’s Iran Policy

EPA/Sebastian Scheiner / POOLIsrael – Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu got into a diplomatic shouting match with US Ambassador Dan Shapiro over US President Barack Obama’s handling of Iran’s nuclear program, saying “time has run out” for diplomacy, Yediot Aharonot cited a source as saying on Friday.

According to the report, which the Jerusalem Post could not independently verify, the showdown took place as Netanyahu met with Shapiro and Republican Congressman Mike Rogers, who visited Israel earlier in the week.

A source that participated in the meeting said that a particularly angry and stressed Netanyahu began a tirade against the US president, attacking him for not doing enough on Iran. “Instead of pressuring Iran in an effective way, Obama and his people are pressuring us not to attack the nuclear facilities,” the source quoted Netanyahu as saying.

Angered about continued US rhetoric that diplomacy needs more time to work, Netanyahu said flatly: “Time has run out,” Yediot reported.

The American ambassador is said to have responded politely but firmly, telling Netanyahu that he was distorting Obama’s position. Obama promised not to allow Iran to obtain nuclear weapons, he explained, and left all options on the table, including military options.

At that point, diplomatic sources told the paper, “sparks flew” in an escalating shouting match between Netanyahu and Shapiro as the stunned congressman watched.

Netanyahu and Obama may meet face-to-face on the sidelines of September’s United Nations General Assembly meeting.

To quote Clint: If you don’t do the job you need to go!
Good thing Romney “like to fire people”.

Does anybody have the intestinal fortitude to suggest any other leader who would step up and tell the truth as Bibi and most thinking people see it

I am plagued by thoughts of this frightening and terrible choice:
Which is worse? Israel attacking Iran now, and immediately putting that tiny country (Israel) in “Shreklech” terrifying danger, or waiting for Iran to develop their nuclear weapons and putting Israel in morbid danger then?

Not to mention that either way global anti-Semitism will explode! Gas prices will likely soar to like 12$ – 15$ a gallon. Prices for everything will shoot up. The economy will experience another collapse.
We must understand and realize that people around the world that are starving and can’t pay the bills will not be very rational about Israel not having a choice.

In the upcoming high-holy days we need to pray very very hard…

Lets keep in mind the gemarah in berachos 55a which states that,” three things require divine mercy a good king,a good year, and a good dream.”Hopefully, we will awake from this nightmare and merit all three-BE”H.

Just wait — if Romney is elected he’ll be having the same problems with Bibi, who’s a stubborn, arrogant bovan. Name me one political leader from any party in Israel whom Bibi hasn’t fought with over the years. The late great Yitzhak Shamir detested Bibi and said he was untrustworthy. Bibi couldn’t even keep his super-coalition with Kadima together more than a few weeks because Mofaz found him to be a liar who constantly shifted his positions.

Hashem Yerachem. There is no human and/or military answer to this situation. It is exactly as described in Min Hameitzar (in Halel). Three times it said we are surrounded by enemies, and each time it ends with “and with the name of Hashem I will destroy them”. E”Y is surrounded from ALL sides by those that wish to destroy it and have r”l the capabilities to do so. It is ludicrous to think that the Israeli army has the answers. (Surely does not mean that they must not to every “hishtadlus” they can – but that’s all it is – “hishtadlus”).
We can only rely on the RBS”O.
    We want Moshiach NOW!
Yes, Wise-Guy is correct – “we must daven very very hard” – and now, as we are in the midst of the Yemai Harachamim – is the time.
“Uru yeshainim mitirdaschem”. The problem(s) will not go away by itself. The RBS”O wants to hear our tefillos. We have no choice or alternative.

I don’t care how right you are, getting into a shouting match with anyone no less the US ambassador is plain stupid and brings little good will.

Bibi sounds like a cat trapped in the corner and that is a dangerous position for the leader of Israel to be in.

    bottom line all tivtechu benedivim…

Does anyone out there know what Romney’s position on Iran is? It would be good to know before we vote for him. Seems like Clint Eastwood is his spokesman. Scary.
