New York – Transit officials say an ad it initially rejected for its “demeaning” language is expected to appear at 10 subway stations next week.

Metropolitan Transportation Authority spokesman Aaron Donovan told The New York Times (http://nyti.ms/QYLCE6 ) “Our hands are tied.”
A Manhattan federal court judge ruled in July that the MTA violated the First Amendment rights of the group seeking to place the ad, The American Freedom Defense Initiative.
The ad states “In any war between the civilized man and the savage, support the civilized man.” It adds, “Support Israel. Defeat Jihad,” inbetween two Stars of David.
Donovan said the MTA might consider revising its ad policy at its board meeting next week.
New York’s Council on American-Islamic Relations called the ad an attempt to “define Muslims” through hate speech.
Jihad is not a savage. He is my gardener. He is a very nice, gentle fellow.
This is hate speech and could not be worse timing.
Before these ads ran there were blatantly anti-Jew and anti-Zionist ads that the MTA allowed. They were displayed in Westchester.
While we are All to familiar with feeling the wrath of others, which means I think it’s going to haunt us. Fact stays fact. They are a religion of savage. They do kill daily in the name of their religion. So the ad is exactly on the point. they have the option of changing it by cleaning up their hateful religion.
Their “hands are tied” will be a comforting response if anyone c’v is killed or maimed if there are some fanatics who respond with violence to this meshuganah advertisement. At a time when passions are running high and we should be trying to cool things down, this only pours gasoline on the fire.
I agree with the ad’s message but as a PR tool it is worse than useless. It is crude and can be perceived as racist. Calling people savages without explaining why will serve only to annoy those who are already anti-Israel and it won’t persuade anyone in the middle. It’s a shame to waste a PR opportunity like this on such trash. I would much rather see an ad portraying Israel as the eternal Jewish homeland. It could state that the Jewish population of Jerusalem has outnumbered the Muslim population ever since records began (in 1844). Or maybe an ad showing that Muslim leaders have slaughtered far more Muslims than Israel ever has. This would be a good time to contrast the massacre by Assad of the Syrian people to the restraint shown by the Israelis in the fight for their survival. Or an ad stating that the “Palestinians” are an invented people (they didn’t even call themselves Palestinians until after the State of Israel was founded). We could beseech the public to stand up for Israel as it faces the Iranian regime that seeks another Holocaust.
It’s not enough to call people names; we have to back up our messages with facts.
zeh lo tov!!!
These things always backfire. Esav soneh et Yaakov. Period
I agree with # 6 and # 10. Although its true, a stark blunt ad like this wont get the haters to start loving us, or even understanding the difference between “yaakov and eisav”
Seems like most people here assumed that this is a Jewish ad. American Freedom Defense Initiative is a project of Robert Spencer, who is Catholic, and Pamela Geller, a Jewess.
I don’t see anything about Muslims. I see jihad=savages. How is that wrong? Did I miss the memo (or ad) where jihad=peace-loving Muslims?
