New York – Midtown Manhattan Staples Store Becomes The Site Of An Improv Prank

Improv Everywhere bills itself as a “prank collective that causes scenes of chaos and joy in public places.”

A group of 24 actors, ranging in age between 48 and 78, were cast for the so-called “mission,” and hidden GoPro cameras and a film crew were secretly set up in advance inside the Staples store. The office chair department was already arranged in a boardroom fashion – minus the table – allowing each of the actors to enter the store one at a time and take their seats at the pre-determined moment. Actor Will Hines can be seen giving a presentation to the group about a waterfront condominium development in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, using the whiteboard and easel he had just purchased from Staples.

The board meeting proceeds uninterrupted and, at first, it seems the group will get away with holding their meeting in the furniture section of Staples.

Yet, before long, a confused store manager comes over and tells them, “You guys can’t have a meeting in here.” But Hines is insistent that he booked the spot with a woman named Carol. “Hmm. Did you check with Carol? We reserved the room with Carol,” he tells the manager.

Watch below to see how the mission unfolds:

Thumbs down. This is part of the moral rot that began in the 60s. They’re making fun of reality, which is, to my mind, an afront against Hashem. Not to mention that it is done at others’ expense — Staples is a business, not a theatre. And some will no doubt find it creepy and disturbing. There are other aspects of this that are also problematic but its enough to say, if they’re so clever, let them write a play, rent a stage and sell tickets.

If Yidden can sit in a fancy restaurant and order only water, why can’t these guys sit in those chairs for a few minutes?

    What an opportunity for Staples!
Let them start “renting” their space for exactly this kind of thing. Heck, you won’t have to run out in middle of the meeting to get suuplies, and you’ll only have to pay for what you used!

stupid low level employee… it would have made NO difference to let them stay …

with any degree of judgement he wouldve known that only something good (ie purchases or good will etc) would have come from this..

if youve ever been to that section in staples there is never ANYONE in there anyway

thats why if you have half a brain you can always get a job ..because MOST people are horrible at what they do and dont add value ( i say this as a business owner)

Granted, it is funny but what is the point of this nonsense?
