Breezy Point, NY – Fire Claims Home Of Rep. Bob Turner, Mike Long

According to the Crain’s Insider (http://goo.gl/Heo6o), Congressman Turner’s spokesman confirmed that Mr. Turner and his wife were inside the home until “later in the process” of the storm, but both he and his wife got out of the house safely.

    In a statement posted on Mr. Turner’s Facebook and Twitter accounts, he said, “My thoughts and prayers are with all of my fellow New Yorkers and the many others who are experiencing loss as a result of Hurricane Sandy. . . .I, along with many other Breezy Point residents, lost our homes last night and I am grateful that my family and I are safe after this destructive storm. I hope you will join me in lending a hand to those who were less fortunate and keep everyone impacted by this storm in your thoughts and prayers.”

    The fire also decimated the home of Turner friend and neighbor, Conservative Party Chairman Mike Long. In a telephone interview, Mr. Long said he and his family were not in Breezy Point during the hurricane, and that he had not yet been to Breezy Point to survey the damage. Instead, his son, who works for the fire department went to the site and informed his father of the horrific news. “The houses aren’t even burnt,” Mr. Long said. “They’re completely gone.”
