    He says he saw homes burned to the ground and others smashed and thrown across streets by the raging tide.

    Schumer toured the area by helicopter with Gov. Andrew Cuomo Wednesday morning.

    He says the view close up is likely to be even worse, with extensive water and structural damage to countless homes and other buildings that appear fine on the outside.

    Schumer says his drive through lower Manhattan Tuesday night was eerie, without lights from the streets or buildings. He says it looked like the kind of “ghost town” everyone feared would happen after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

    Hey Chuck U, when will the democrat senate pass a budget so that folks down here ‘know’ there’s money available for the recovery? YOU haven’t done a blasted thing about this in over 3 years!!!!!

    perhaps shumer can get us some electricity and water down in lower manhattan?
    we need to stop focusing on the things for tourism like the marathon and take care of our own new york residents!
    take care of our needs before you worry about the visitors for the marathon
