Saturday’s operation marked the fifth time in the past month Israeli forces broke up a Palestinian encampment.
The Palestinians aim to draw attention to Israel’s control of territory they seek for a future state. In particular, they say they are protesting what they describe as a broad Israeli policy to prevent Palestinians from building in West Bank areas controlled by the Jewish state.
The activists seem to be adopting a tactic of Jewish settlers, who establish communities on contested territory hoping it will remain theirs once structures are built.
The military said soldiers used riot control measures to disperse the crowd.
Kol Hakovod, keep it up! I love the terminology. “Controlled territory” and such. Why is Israel the only “state” or country to be afforded this terminology? Any other country who captured land through war, and wars that they did NOT start but only defended themselves in, were never expected to return that land, and are still not expected to return that land. None of that land is called “disputed territories” nor “controlled territories” and none of those countries are expected nor demanded to give the land back. Why do the nations of the world turn to the tiny little State of Israel and expect them to do what they don’t demand of any other nation?
