Torrance, CA – A mother and daughter newspaper delivery team who were mistakenly shot by Los Angeles police hunting for a fugitive former cop will get a new pickup truck courtesy of the department.

LAPD Cmdr. Andrew Smith says the department’s Chief Charlie Beck met with the women in their Torrance home Saturday to apologize and tell them he had arranged for someone to donate a new pickup truck.
The truck will be donated early this week, Smith said.
The women were accidentally struck by gunfire in the pre-dawn hours Thursday after it was reported that Christopher Dorner was sighted in the area. Beck called it a case of mistaken identity.
Dorner has vowed to avenge his firing from the department, which he wrote in an online manifesto was retaliation for reporting officer violence.
Meanwhile, Seeking leads in a massive manhunt, Los Angeles authorities on Sunday offered a $1 million reward for information leading to the arrest of Dorner.
Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa announced the reward, raised through several private and public donors, at a news conference at LAPD headquarters.
“Our dedication to catch this killer remains steadfast,” Villaraigosa said. “We will not tolerate this reign of terror.”
The offer of the LAPD to replace the truck is bupkis. A civil suit will be filed against the LAPD, for their gross negligence in opening fire on two innocent citizens who were not breaking the law. They were merely going about their business of delivering newspapers. The trigger happy LAPD cops went against their own department directive, which absolutely forbids them from firing at a moving vehicle, unless the vehicle is trying to run them over. Clearly, that was not the case here, as the truck was moving away from them, and the bullets were fired into the rear of the truck. The LA cops cannot use the same defense which the NYCPD cops will use (regarding their shooting at an armed felon, near the Empire State Building). Clearly, that was not the case here. Unfortunately, the LAPD cops panicked, and now it is going to cost the City of Los Angeles, big bucks!
FIle under “the least they could do.”
They will be buying them a new truck, new houses and nice pensions soon enough.
To #2 - Do you really live in Saudi Arabia? Isn’t that place judenrein (no Jews). At one time, Saudi Arabia would not allow any Jews to travel there, and still restricts visas for Jews. In fact, during the First Gulf War, it was reported that the Saudis did not want any Jewish soldiers stationed on its soil. However, they didn’t get their wish.
