During his confirmation hearing, lawmakers pressed Lew to do more to fight a weak Chinese yuan, saying it is hurting American manufacturers.

Lew plans to “discuss efforts to level the playing field and create new opportunities for U.S. workers and businesses,” during his visit to China, according to a statement.

He will also meet with U.S. business leaders in the country.

The real question is what does he eat in Beijing. If you’ve ever been to any meeting with PRC officials, the multi-course dinner is a integral part of your visit. The last time I was in Beijing, there was not a single caterer with good chasideshe hashgacha. I doubt reb Lew will be bringing his own cans of tuna fish to the Great Hall for dinner.

Reb Lew can stop off in Taiwan and partake of their many 100% vegetarian restaurants.
