Lakewood, NJ – As part of what New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is calling a “new era” for the state’s institutions of higher learning, Lakewood yeshiva Beth Medrash Govoha has been approved for $10.6M to build a library and a research center.

NJ.com (http://bit.ly/ZjWqhD) reports that a total of $1.3B has been approved for 176 construction projects in schools across the state.
Christie said the sweeping overhaul is aimed at keeping New Jersey’s “best” and “brightest” in-state, while attracting new research and business partners who will bring new and better paying jobs.
The projects will now head to the state Legislature for further consideration.
Oy Vey, the zechus of all the torah will be going to the goverment now.
Gotta Love this country !!!
“will bring new and better paying jobs” ???
just making sure he gets reelected.
But we will take the money and say THANK YOU.!!….right?
Christie, “This will bring New and better paying Job’s????” I think you should change it to: “This will bring Me To get re-elected for another term”
Great, bnei beraker’s its time to move..
How does sitting and learning gemorah all day constitute higher learning? What career or job prospects result from sitting in BMG for two years?
Sweet.
Mazel Tov, BMG, well deserved, and a gavaldiga kiddish hashem keep up ur avodas hakodesh, Rav Aron, job well done!!
I would love to see the research coming out of BMG it must be of vital intrest to NJ
i hope the kollel guys get a raise a little hard to exist on $80.00 a week
Library and research center? Sounds like a really expensive Bais midrash
Research Center?? Library full of gemorahs?? Does Christie know what they do in Lakewood?
Great! exactly what is needed more hand outs for the kollelman
Christie said the sweeping overhaul is aimed at keeping New Jersey’s “best” and “brightest” in-state, while attracting new research and business partners who will bring new and better paying jobs. Yeah BMG guys Jobs. Thats a funny one!
time to bring here Yair Lapid
Will they lower the tuition now?
I guess they will conduct Research without any cell phones, computers, or Internet
To 16. maxedout Says “want a raise? get a job!”
In which z’chus will you live?
Only those who learn Tora can help you with that,
Instead of bashing them – help them out!
Help them get a job in teaching Klal Isroel!
Invite them to your community, pay them at least enough to pay for their basic needs! (and not 80 $ per week)
You will go straight to Oilom abo for that!
Or keep bashing them and than you might end up on other side!
Mazel Tov. Great news. BMG loves the Governor, The governor loves Obama. Way to go USA.
Glad I don’t live in NJ! The squeaky wheel gets the oil!
Well, in the world, having Smicha is on the level of a doctorate! Also, there is great training in thinking by learning. And, the next generation of leaders are being trained at BMG – so that is future jobs. What I’m not sure of is how this works with separation of “church and state” – any ideas out there?
Does bmg still sell the naming rights to the library as a dedication? I myself dedicated a library in an Israeli yeshiva for $40,000.
.Its a nice gesture by Gov Christie, but what we really need is job training for the frum world.
What a contrast! Christian America/NJ gives 10 Million to BMG, supporting Toras Chutz Laaretz, while Zionist Lapid wants to destroy Toras Eretz Yisrael.
Research? Are they serious? What on earth can they possibly be researching? No pun intended, but this is too much pork even for BMG.
Is that contingent on being drafted into the New Jersey Army?
As someone typically critical of unsupervised and unchecked Kollel lifestyles, I would neve r go as far to say that Kollel is a waste of time or money. Kollel is a valuable asset to communities everywhere and they are prominent institutions which give our Yeshiva boys something to aspire to. Grade 12 should not be the end of the road. They need to see there is a form of higher advanced learning. Also, many successful businesses were hatched in the coffee rooms of Kollels. They serve as important meeting places and factories of good ideas and learning.
And to those saying a real use of “higher learning” funds would be for universities; you have no idea how much stupidity is funded and paid for with taxpayer dollars for things like studying the life of some obscure prust painter, or some silly animal mating habit study. Studying ancient texts is just as legitimate in that light.
