Trenton, NJ – New Jersey is cracking down on motorists who stay in the left lane.

Gov. Chris Christie has signed into law a bill that raises the penalties for violating the state’s keep-right law from $50 and $200 to between $100 and $300.
Motorists in New Jersey are required to stay in the right lane unless they are passing slower traffic. The bill’s sponsors say staying in the left lane creates a dangerous situation for motorists.
Another Bloomberg Republican!
Uses security, health, common good as an excuse to raise fees tolls.
This will only clog the roads and slow down traffic.
I agree with Gov. Christy on this one. I’ve encountered numerous drivers who drive too slowly in the left lane, when they belong in the right lane. By driving too slowly in the left lane, they create hazardous driving conditions, for other drivers, who should be able to safely pass them. Also, I’ve even encountered drivers, who are driving very slowly in the right lane; when I try to legally pass them in the left lane, they will deliberately speed up in the right lane, to prevent one from passing them. Then, they will reduce their speed, and repeat their tactics all over again. I could never understand why their are such sick and disturbed motorists on the highways.
Stop cracking down on people’s money. Jsut another justification for more state income. No safety or traffic jam reason behind it. Unbelievable for a Republican. Did he switch to Democrat maybe?
While I don’t hang out in the left lane, I know how to drive because I learned to drive in the Midwest, I am not a fan of the higher cost of tickets. I do, however, believe that the cops SHOULD pull people over for hanging out in the left lane.
Whats the limit? How long can you stay in the left lane before you get a ticket?
What If I want to pass three cars, what then?
The Republicans want everyone on the right. This is just a start.
This is a very good idea. Whatever it takes to remove dufuses who drive with the speed limit from the left lane, it’s worth doing.
