A similar article appeared several weeks ago on this site, about parents who leave their small children in locked cars for hours, and “forget” about them, with disastrous consequences. This phenomenon has occurred in the USA, EY, and probably other countries. It is astounding how parents can forget, that they left their kids in their car. When I raised this issue, someone on this site attacked me by stating “are you so perfect, that you’ve never made mistakes”. I responded and stated, “yes, I’ve made mistakes, BUT I NEVER, EVER, LEFT MY CHILD LOCKED IN MY CAR, AND FORGOT TO REMOVE HIM”. It is bad enough that people lock their animals in cars, on a hot summer day, when they go shopping. However, to do this to a human being, who is completely helpless, is reprehensible!
There is absolutely no excuse for doing so. Unfortunately, in the USA, less than 50% of such cases are even prosecuted by the authorities.

To #3- I’d like to thank you for your support. Your comments are indeed welcome. It is unfortunate that someone with an attitude such as #2 , uses this site to attack others with sarcasm and abrasiveness!

To all those self-righteous commentors who may have made mistakes but “NEVER, EVER LEFT A CHILD IN A CAR”: I’m sure many, if not all, of these unfortunate parents have made mistakes but ” NEVER, EVER LEFT A CHILD IN A CAR”.
    Until now.

I’m a parent. I can relate to how you feel. No excuse. I don’t feel the need to pat myself on the back, but we’re all different. Obviously, they were not created with the same tools that you have. As a result, they made a tragic mistake and lost a child. Can’t you show some pity? Do you really need them prosecuted as well? Do you really think that they haven’t suffered enough? Are you prepared to be judged as strictly as you are judging? Sit back and relax, have a little pity, and leave the prosecution to the one above.

Why does the headline mention this poor family’s ethnic origin? Is an Ethiopian Jew less than a person than others?

The story is incorrect and is more complicated than appears above. The child was not left in the car by the parents. An employee of the Merkaz Klita which houses Ethiopians left her car unlocked when she got to work (lock was broken). When she left work work about 4 p.m. she discovered the boy in the car. How he got in is not known. It is being investigated. Let’s wait a while before we publish sanctimonious comments.

There seems to be a plague of people forgetting their kids in cars nowadays. Why is this happening. It wasn’t so prevalent years ago. Maybe it’s all the distractions of modern life – cell phones, smart phones, texting, etc.

I think there is too much pressure on having kids or lots of kids. I believe you should only have kids if you really want to and know you have the nerve to take care of them a whole time.
