The New York Times says city lawyers cited the numbers in a letter sent Tuesday to a federal judge. The judge ruled this month that the police department violated the civil rights of minorities with the policy. She ordered an outside monitor to oversee major changes.

The city on Tuesday asked the judge to hold off on implementing her ruling until their appeal is decided.

The data showed that from April through June, police conducted 58,000 stops, compared to 99,000 during the first quarter of 2013. The number was well below the 203,000 stops in the first quarter of 2012.

Not enough, should be down 90%

What the NYCPD won’t state, is that crime did not rise 57% in the second quarter of 2013, to match the corresponding decline in stop and frisk. This only reinforces the fact, that there is no statistical correlation between stop and frisk, and any decrease in the crime rate. To this date, no university, and no federal, state, county, or municipal governmental agency has any statistical proof, which conclusively illustrates that stop and frisk has reduced the crime rate, in NYC. I challenge any reader on this board, to point to any publication which has shown this. P.S. Don’t waste your time, as none exists.

it’s gonna fall even more ‘cuz cops won’t go to those neighborhoods unless it’s a “real emergency”
