Day, a Republican, defeated Democrat David Fried (FREED) in the suburban county north of New York City.

With 100 percent of precincts reporting, Day had 52 percent of the vote to 46 percent for Fried.

Rockland’s troubled finances dominated the campaign. The county has a deficit of more than $125 million and a poor credit rating.

Day said he would force every county department to start with zero and justify every dollar it needed. Fried called for economic development rather than raising taxes or cutting programs.

Day is a retired New York City police detective commander. He was also chief of detectives in Baltimore.

Day succeeds incumbent Republican Scott Vanderhoef, who did not seek re-election.

This is a sad day for all of us Monsey residence. This man is driven by hate. While we can all have differences of opinions, and we need to respect that. But when a person’s agenda is only to crush one group of the community it’s a sign of a hater.

Read in his website, it’s just so obvious he is out to target the Frum community in every way he can!

According to his wife, his opponent was a “Jew from Ramapo”. Welcome to the Rockland County National Sociatlist Party.

David is a descent man who was the victim of some “juvenile” delinquents from Monsey. With the advent of social media, Jews and gentiles outside of Ramapo got to see for the first time the unbelievable negative literature and posts send out to the Monsey/NS community about “burning down houses,” Polatseck twitter post, Wieder’s call in line, etc., and it scared the h*ll out of them. I know people who actually had neighbors come by and ask them to translate the yiddish, so the impact of circulating this trash spread far beyond the frum community. May be the “brain trust” in Monsey will learn that what “works” in Monsey does not work with the general, educated populous.

Sorry David, I think you would have been great. Good luck to Mr. Day.

    Luke.

This is a sad day for all of us. He is a haters driven by hate. While we don’t have to agree on issues, and I respect differences of opinions Ed is driven by hate.

Don’t take MY word for it, read what “his BEST friend and supporter writes and you judge http://newcity.patch.com/groups/dan-weisbergs-blog/p/why-im-voting-for-ed-day – read the last paragraph.

“but the America I know is one where assimilation of many diverse groups leads to a strong united country (you know, the UNITED States of America). Growing up, I knew of groups that did not assimilate, such as the Amish. But I don’t believe the Amish led to adverse quality of life in the surrounding areas. Please do not interpret this as a broad disparaging of all who are Hassidic – I am sure like any other community there are many decent people who due to their faith and beliefs prefer to not intermingle the way we….”

It bothers him way to much that we didn’t “assimilate”, hmm that ain’t hate? Nice spin to say we made an adverse effect on the surrounding areas. Looks like the Spring Valley village was better off with robberies, drugs, and guns all better than our school buses…
I live in Airmont, but hate is hate!

I can see all the heimeshe mosdos in the county freaking out because this guy will not go along with the scams and backroom deals of his predecssor and will enforce the rules strictly for everyone. You may not like his hard-line approach to appropriating funds to county agencies and organizations or granting waivers and variances to well-connected askanin seeking favors for their mosdos but thats too bad. The best disinfectant is to shine a bright light of transparency and public disclosure.. The “good ole days” are over….for yidden and goyim.
