The Israel National News (http://bit.ly/IqK4St) reports that the IDF, or Israel Defense Forces, has treated more than 2,500 patients injured from typhoon Haiyan while in the Philippines. The delegation is comprised of medical professionals and search and rescue experts.

The IDF is scheduled to arrive in Israel on Wednesday at 3:00 pm local time. They will also bring with them two Filipino children who plan to be transferred to the Schneider Hospital in Tel Aviv for additional medical care.

A military ceremony will be conducted at the Ben Gurion International Airport during their arrival. Hanukkah candles will also be lit to mark the first night of the holiday.

Israel has often supplied aid in the wake of global disasters. In 2010 they traveled to earthquake ravaged Haiti and offered the same assistance to Turkey in 2011.
