San Francisco, CA – Outrage After VIolent Post By Head Palestinian San Francisco State University Student Group

San Francisco, CA – Simon Wiesenthal Center officials today warned San Francisco State University of a potential threat to its Jewish students after the Amcha Initiative uncovered a picture on Tumblr allegedly posted by the President of the university-sanctioned General Union of Palestine Students (GUPS) in which he is shown holding a knife with the caption saying, “I seriously can not get over how much I love this blade. It is the sharpest thing I own and cuts through everything like butter and just holding it makes me want to stab an Israeli soldier….” The Tumblr post (which can be seen below) has since been removed.

Copies of the picture were forwarded to SFSU President Leslie Wong by Amcha and the Wiesenthal Center, and in a phone conversation earlier today with Wong’s office, Center officials warned that such avowedly violent statements, especially when linked with another recent GUPS campus event where participants used a stencil saying, “My heroes have always killed colonizers,” pose a potentially significant threat to the university’s Jewish students. “It is outrageous and unacceptable that the leader of a university-funded group would invoke a message of death and violence,” said a Wiesenthal Center official.

Truly chilling. Is this student here on a visa? He should be deported.

Another act of disgusting venom by our dear peace partners, the palestinians. They’d rather kill Jews than have a country of their own. Have the police been notified of these threats?

How repugnant! He should be thrown out of the university, no ifs ands or buts. If he is allowed to get away with this, every Jewish student should leave.

May he receives what he wishes to give, BE”H. If a ‘nocri’ wishes to murder a Jew, HaShem accounts it as if he already did.

I went to school there for a few years. A wonderful place, but there are definitely a few groups that are virulently anti-Semitic. I am intentionally not saying “anti-Israel” though I do believe it is quite possible to oppose Israel and not hate Jews (I’m referring to gentiles and not to our Satmar and other brethren who of course do not hate Jews). These groups are very active in the student government of this largely-commuter school and in no way reflect the majority of the students. The only reason they still get any attention is because most students are focused on their studies and have no interest in the student government. I’d like to think that this will cause some action, but since this has gone on for decades I doubt much will change now.
