THE NEW YORK DAILY NEWS (http://nydn.us/1kCyQcX) reports that the ruling paves the way for Jonathan Braun—-who is currently awaiting sentencing after pleading guilty to running an international drug ring with an estimated worth in the tens of millions of dollars—to accompany his five-month pregnant fiancé on a visit to the gravesite of the late Lubavicher Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem Schneerson, as well as take part in the festivities surrounding his upcoming wedding.
Braun’s defense attorney, John Meringolo, convinced Federal Judge Sandra Townes to allow Braun—who is currently free on $8M bail—to attend a wedding announcement party at his future in-laws, as well as the seven night “Sheva Brachot.”
Court papers also state that Braun can accompany his fiancé to shop for rings and tuxedos, and accompany her, as well, to any pre-natal care appointments.
Braun is facing up to 20 years in prison.

This could be some sort of drug reference. Perhaps “moth” a misprint for “meth” that is short for “methamphetamine” a highly addictive and destructive drug. All it means is that she is a meth addict and has a drug induced delusion that she is pregnant.

Why are people soooo callous to jump on someone so badly down?? The title orthodox means he comes from a frum family. A persons spirituality is a private matter and between him and Gd. This is a very big nebach. I’m going to pray for this young man who made a terrible mistake.
Also my understanding of the case is he was in charge of selling large amounts of pot. C’mon in some states it’s legal for recreational reasons!! Many many people smoke/ed pot!!!

To all the, too numerous, posters who expressed incredulity and outrage that the “orthodox” man has a five-month pregnant girlfriend: at the risk of stating the obvious, this man is modern “orthodox” and their standards on sexual morality are much lower than ours.

Since I am not familiar with the laws. what is in fact the law about relations between unmarrieds acc to halachah?I realize it must be a sin but do the children bear any stigma if the couple marries?And if the woman goes to the mikvah afterwards?Can someone explain the dinim or if there’s room for teshuvah in these cases?

In 10 years from now if he’s a huge Talmud chacham in a Baal teshuva yeshiva crying every Yom Kippur over his aveiros while many of us will be chaping a schmooze during kedusha in our heimesha shteibalach.
