Gaza – According to a statement released by military officials, the IDF will be opening a full-service field hospital for injured Gaza civilians on the border on Sunday evening.
TIMESOFISRAEL.com (http://bit.ly/UkgjIQ) reports that the field hospital, scheduled to open at 8:00 p.m., is intended to take some of the pressure off local medical facilities that have been struggling to treat the over 3,000 reported casualties since the conflict began.
“The hospital will include an emergency clinic, pediatrician and gynecology services, a delivery room and hospitalization when needed. The staff will include doctors, nurses, x-ray technicians and lab technicians,” read the IDF statement, while adding, “The hospital will treat sick and wounded Palestinians in coordination with the liaison department of the Erez crossing and will open its gates tonight.”
Sources said Shifa hospital in Gaza City has been swamped since Gaza’s Wafa hospital was hit by an Israeli air strike Thursday following a determination by the IDF that Hamas was launching rockets from its proximity.
